Thanks. It's not perfect but I think it turned out pretty decent. Sits no higher than my lights and easily removable to switch with my regular load bars. The mounting points stay in regardless of which I have up there.

What did you use to mount it to the rails?

Same idea as the DIY light bar. Only difference is that there is a front and rear bolt to hold the plates in place so the whole assembly doesn't have to be completely slid out of the rails.

You mean the bolt on the bushing mount bracket? Sure. On the rear. Took the bar off soon after that.

Did you add edges to all 4 corners since your last picture? I actually really liked it with only corners on the back two corners.

I did James. I was on the fence about only having the two but I liked the added corner guards for protection purposes. I'm going to take and put two back up lights between the horizontal bars instead of being down low under the bumper. They also provide some small measure of protection for the front lights as well. Being that it sits only at 2.5" from the base structure, they won't really impede the ability to carry my kayak and whatnot. The center opening will also help in that regards. I also put snap-loc mounting points on each corner for tie down points.

Picked up this spare GM 8.6 today. My plans are a total rebuild, swap in my 4.56's with Powertrax non-slip for 100% better then new.

Awesome David. I need to go out and pick one up soon. I've got some of the parts waiting at home.

I spent an hour in the salvage yard today on a recon mission. It looks like Friday will be a good day of parts collection, I am going back to help a buddy pull an 8.6/G80/GU6 for $95 out the door. I will also be grabbing a pair of spline disconnects for $30 each, provided they come out in one piece. One is out of a Ranier (all wheel drive sleeve!) and the other from a Trailblazer. The Ranier has leather interior that is in excellent shape, so for $100 I will probably pick those up to replace the worn and cracked leather that I have in one of my trucks.

The Ranier is new in the yard and hasn't been picked over to much yet. Anyone looking for anything that I may be able to help with?

Started planning another project (Now the second I will have going since I finished the basket). Ordering up a couple of these bearings. Now to go collect the materials when I get them in to work on a contained awning set up. :bounce:

The other project is frame mounts and extensions for the bull bar that I got as a gift so that it bypasses the radiator mounts. I already have plasma cut the larger components out and they are just waiting to be cleaned up while I wait for the additional tube needed for the bull bar extension. I know the overall thought and feelings about the non functional mall cruiser eye candy. I'm going to try and at least make it less useless. For my vehicle mission, heavy offroading isn't necisarrily going to be the most occuring event at this point. Would be mostly forest service roads and such.
