Hey everyone! Been lurking around this site for a few months now. Thanks to all the great information here I just installed Mark's 2.5" lift and Bilstein HD's up front. Couldn't and wouldn't have done it without GMTNation and this site.

Welcome! You look to be within the Roadie rescue service area, you wouldn't happen to be a slightly impulsive young Marine would you? Bill needs a new one... Just read, you'll get the joke.

Ten hours is pretty far. JamesDub is a bunch closer, if he's still got the DubMobile.

I would love to go some time. I'm from North Lake Tahoe so I know the area pretty well. I haven't done much offroading only with friends rigs and being I've only owned 2 wheel drive vehicles in the past. I won't hold you to it though 10 hours is a long ways away.

The first thing I need is new(longer) rear shocks. They are topping out just going over speed bumps. I like BDS because of the price and warranty, Fabtech and Fox are awesome but expensive, not too hot on Skyjacker's, still looking into it. Next is new tires. I'm using up the tread and getting my money's worth out of my stock tires 245/65/R17. I'll most likely get BFG All Terrain 265/65/R17. I would like to go bigger but that requires wheel spacers and this is my daily driver. After that put on a Waag bumper for front end protection on and off the trail. I like the look of it without the head light brush guards but still have the option of putting them on when offroading. Once I put on all that extra weight I feel like I should focus on engine performance; PCM4less tune, CAI with green filter and throttle body spacer. Some under armor would be nice. Everything else is minor like rear sway bar end links, color matching grill crossbar, and painting emblems and all plastic black. My overall goal is to have a rig that is capable of light-moderate offroading( to get me to more remote camping spots and for fun), but not kill me on gas mileage because like most people this is my daily driver.

10 hours is NOTHING for Bill!! Thats less than a days drive! This is the man who pulled off his entire dash just to install something to be utilized by a passenger as a handhold.... Even though he's often ridin solo

:hissyfit: BDS fine print warranty comes with tons of fine print, they don't honor most claims, and basically their customer service mhem, ask some of us how we know.

Don't rush to get tires without reading some of the more recent threads and discussions on them. Not saying anything wrong with the BFG A/T, but .... read. :thumleft:

The Waag is a self inflicted wound, if you really want to off road you're going to ruin your approach angle on purpose. It's not worth the cost IMO. More reading is prescribed before spending more money. But if your goal is moderate off-roading well .... it's up to you. But you might hear some opinions on it.

Throttle body spacer is another stupid waste of your money, does NOTHING for performance. I try telling the asshats on GMT this, they ignore me with their honda logic. But what do I know, I only have a modified Corvette and GXP that is making over 400HP. :safe:

However lots of us run PCM tune and the green filter, so no problems there. Performance isn't really something you want to worry about off road, reliability and not having your mods is. No one wants to be stuck in the middle of no where fixing a turbo or something stupid.

To each their own at the end of the day, it's your rig. We're just here to tell you the facts and help you make your decisions. :thumleft:

BTW, my rig is my daily driver, even though my commute is only 6 miles a day thru a 25mph neighborhood. That will change shortly when my office moves.

Again, welcome. Post up some pictures when you get a chance.

And have fun :flex dirty:

welcome, there is no warranty for BDS shocks if you own a Wrangler they are an excellent company absolutly love the lift package we got for my wifes Jeep, not so much for our rigs. BTW Skyjacker are the same as the BDS just comes with different stickers and you'll have to buy washers to make up for the space on the lower mount.

There are exactly ONE Trailblazer and ONE Envoy who have touched the Rubicon Trail (that we know of, and most lifted trucks who wheel it hard are members here). My Envoy and a TB owned by my fellow site founder Greg (membername Teebes). Even as built as we were, we didn't feel confident we could run the entire trail west to east, and we didn't want to embarrass the platform by breaking down and blocking the trail, but it was a YEARS long obsession to do at least part of it. So we went midweek, in September after Labor Day but in between snowstorms, starting from the Tahoe side and going in the easier 1/3 of the trail to the top of Cadillac Hill. Was still the toughest wheeling we had ever done, needing us to use winches, HiLifts, and some rock stacking to get through. No major carnage. Lots of pics and videos. I had put a "Rubicon" sticker on years ago to show my goal, not that there was ever a Rubicon edition Envoy. :friday:

I still go to the Sierra Nevadas every September for a week, either the west side or the east side. Except last year I missed taking a vacation at all due to work.

This got my attention! I don't want to be shooting myself in the foot. Excuse me in advance if this a newbie question but how will it ruin your approach angle? How is it different from the steel bumpers like MDB? Can you elaborate. I'm a ways out from buying any kind of bumper and now that you say this I will be reading more before I buy. I somewhat agree on the throttle body spacer I'm not totally sold.
