Just a quick question. I've got super salt and mud in Michigan, I'm curious if anyone has deleted the carpet in there rides. My family of offroaders has always deleted their carpet because of rust problems so I've been contemplating doing the same. I just don't know what's under there. My carpet is saturated in salt and mud right now. I find myself stairing at it sayn mother f-er. I just spent 4 hours fixing rust on the bottom of my doors and I don't want to replace the floor pans.
With our powers combined, maybe u guys could ease my troubled mind

You'll find most of the wire harness (parts of it anyway) and all other crap you'd expect

Come spring I pull EVERYTHING and remove the carpet, clean the carpet and floor pans.
I would suggest WeatherTech floor mats, they are molded to fit perfect and keep all the crap off your carpet

I thought about that. I just wanna cut the"pan" area out. Leave the rest. Maybe poke a drain hole

I put down Raptor Liner with a roller. I think I might pull the seats and try putting it on with a sprayer now that I have a better air compressor. To get more of a texture. I also removed the rear lower panels. You wouldn't believe how much storage space is behind those things, although you might be surprised how thin (like a tin can) our sheet metal is. I'm pretty sure a 9mm round will go thru our trucks, at least in the back side. I lined mine with left over dynamat from my Corvette restore to cancel out some of the noise. I've been even thinking of taking off the door panels and covering them with fiberglass panels. My brother in law made custom light weight fiber glass door panels for his jeep.

Anyhow, I haven't yet finished my build thread with all the latest additions and work to the vehicle, and this is one of the few pictures I have.

The only thing "ugly" about the removed lower panels and removed carpet in the rear is the seat belt reels sticking out like sore thumbs. But Mike is right, there is ALOT of space back there. And overall doesn't look to bad. Looks great in a utility sense.

So I actually have trimmed the pieces of plastic so the front compartment looks stock now. Originally before kids (that's a statement I make now, crazy) I had the rear seats deleted with a platform and the seatbelts out. It all went back in now though since we need to put the car seat in there. So my idea was to make the front compartment feel stock while the back is utilitarian.

Thanks, it's a sloppy cut, but from the perspective of the passenger everything is stock. I should of probably mentioned awhile back that my carpet is also cut underneath the seats. So my passenger and forward area is carpeted still. Just the back of the vehicle has no carpeting.

Dunno if I'll remove all of it like Rory.

I thought you cut the carpet at the seats. I like that. You got the bare interior in the back for maximum space and utility. No carpet to get muddy or oil stained. But the passenger compartment appears normal. It's a good compromise.

Why not just go with some Weathertech or some other FULL COVERAGE floor mats?
