I installed one in my truck. Not TB but I did a write up. It was pretty simple overall.

The physical sender that gets screwed into the transmission will be the same, our trucks have the same transmission. Its a plug on the driver side of the trans above the shift linkage. Pull it out and put the sender in. The wiring is pretty much universal and up to how you want it. The gauge itself is universal. And than you would just need the pillar pod for a TB A pillar.

The sender comes with the gauge. I bought the gauge on Amazon. I bought the pillar pod from Summit.

If you mean the factory sensor, My truck doesn't have one. It was just a pipe plug in the hole. Does the TB have a factory sensor in that location?

IDK but guessing it does because the scan gauge can read the tanny temp. Are you adding a external tanny cooler?

The TB does have a trans temp sensor.

For the cost of adding a pillar pod, just get a scangauge, and pull up the codes for reading the trans temp.

Not to mention those pillar pods turn an already wide A pillar into an even bigger blind spot.

I liked my 3 pod pillar, the wife didn't. But it does turn an already annoying blind spot into an even bigger blind spot. We drove around with it installed for a day and decided to sell it to someone else over on GMT.

A universal single pillar might not be so bad and some of the guys on TBSSOwners have modified a column pillar which is pretty clever.

Can't provide a write up, but I'd opt for the scan gauge. Since our Ultra gauge exploded I'll probably pick up a scan gauge now.

I have always preferred "analog" style gauges to digital ones, even though scan gauges can definitely give you much more info in one neat package. For my build I decided on Autometer SportComp II (2 1/16 inch) for trans and water temperature. These are full sweep electronic gauges that offer much higher precision than the standard 90 degree (angle not temp) kind. They come with senders and all their electronics are inside the gauges, which is better than older ones that had an external box.

Instead of using a pod piller, I put them into Autometer's standard cup holders and mounted them directly to the stock pillar as low as I could get them. This does eliminate some of the blind spot creation that higher mounted gauges cause.

There is no stock place for the senders to go as discussed above. But due to having a B&M deep transmission pan, the trans sender could go into the available port there. I had to use a right-angle tube as the shift linkage is in the way of the back of the sender. For water temp I used the Autometer hose adapter which inserts an aluminium tube with a sender port into the coolant line.

Here are some pictures.

What's the difference between the short sweep and full sweep? By the way nicely done Alek I like that set up a lot I am currently searching where I can get those same gauges cheap. Well here is the item number/name I found and used to search it
Auto Meter 3657
I found the cheapest on Amazon for $133.51 but I can't tell if that will come with the mounts or not. I would much rather buy one with mounts so I don't mess up later and buy the wrong mounts later. Any insight anyone?

Short sweep gives a smaller segments for the same range. This means they are not as accurate per segment, each segment has to cover a larger number. Full sweep gives more accuracy per segment due to having more and are generally recognized as a better gauge, though both work.

Is there a code to use the elm327 and the obd fusion app for trans temp? I haven't found a way yet.

If you are using an iOS device so far to date that I know of you are SOL with trying to read trans temp. Ask me how I know.
