OK, just went ahead and rechecked all the dimensions again.

The purple "offset bushings" we include are indeed the correct size, the overall width of the assembled rod end/offset bushing combo is 58mm, identical to a factory upper or lower, front or rear position control arm's.

The arms / trucks we tested/ prototyped these on where my 05 TB and a local's 06 TBSS. All dimensions were identica amongst them.

So unless earlier and/or later trucks had some kind of change - these will work.

I didnt have these complaints until after we started including the boots.

I think alot of people are not "smooshing" the offset bushings into the rod end enough. The rubber rod end boots push them out a bit, but once a little force is applied, they squeeze down into them. We need this rubber seal to be tight or else moisture/dust/debris could be allowed to enter.

Image

Here is a great comparison pic. On the left is the identical rod end with the identical offset bushings (the purple part) installed, but with the rubber boot (though the photo is of 5/8" rod ends, not the 3/4" you'll find on TB arms). On the right is no boot. Once you squeeze the nose of the offset bushings down into the rod ends cavity, it works perfect and provides an excellent seal.

I think a few people were excited to get them on and machined/ground down the offset bushings before realizing that it was the rubber boot holding up the progress.

Negative, not the rubber boot in my own personal experience. I put mine in a c-clap and compressed those things together because that was my very first thought. It wasn't the rubber boot. (for me)

Someone else with an 04 in the build comments thread said he didn't have a problem with them either. Wish I didn't give mine up for scrape or I'd measure, it may in fact be there is a dimensional change after 04. Karo has an 02.

And just so I'm not giving the wrong impression here, I'm not complaining about the product. I'm very happy. As stated, there may in fact be a different or my truck is old, things shift and bend.

I measured my bracket today without remembering the numbers posted here. I measured just over 57mm...
1/2 mm extra on each side makes sense to me.

.07mm Difference between 04 and 05 interesting. Wondering if there is a difference between them all? I could be wrong but its just a hunch. Seeing that I have an 04 XUV rear axle I'd safely guess I'd be at 58.08 according to what Sugar posted. Now we need to measure the Pre 04' control arms.

I think there is a problem with the length of the bushings. From measuring the original ones i know that the originals are 57,8 mm from side to side. The massive ones have 63mm from side to side as they can be compressed a little bit. So this is 3 mm to much from each side. I´ll try to compress them in a parallel vice, but i don´t think that would help. So the bushings have to be modified before installation. It is the same for the pan hard. I haven´t measured the bolts until today.

Karsten's is an 02, so if I read his post correctly, his measured 57.8mm.

Have done the measurements again.
Here the picture from the original:

Image

Compressed the massive ones with my fingers as far as I could:

Compressed the massive ones in a parallel vice:

So compressing them as far as possible is the trick for me. Haven´t measured all 4 longarms only one. Overall I like them, quality is good and the color is amazing.
So this is Tracktion Satisfaction.

Guess I should of used a vise and not a c-clap.

is there a reason Massive couldn't go ahead and press the bushings in all the way before shipping? I would expect that would reduce a lot of confusion. I now wonder is Mike's bushing going to wear faster since there is possibly more play.

Hm I don´t think that would be a problem, but I don´t know if the bushing would stay in that position.
And for Mikes bushing I don´t see a problem. Maybe his mounting points are already a little bent together, it would be no problem adding a washer if needed. The only thing could happen is that something makes a rattle noise.

There is almost zero play. Mine are still pretty tight, I checked last night. Red bets purple btw :poke:

Here is off my 08 on the axle, did not have a vernier handy to measure but looks very close to the others above.

I honestly think that if it is either too tight or a little loose, either a washer like stated above would work, or you could probably manipulate the mounts enough to get it to fit just right

Has anyone measured and posted from a 2002, 2003, or 2004 yet? I see most Trailblazers as well as my SS have close enough dimensions, so it seems probable to be a year change. Also we could call a dealership. I checked RockAuto. They list the same part numbers from 2002, 2005, and 2008 TBSS. I'm thinking the guys who are having problems were beating on there trucks too hard before doing the conversion. lol

Kyle's stock 2006 set fit into my 2002 with no issues.

.07mm = .003" of an inch. 3 thousandths. This is certainly within acceptable GM productuon tolerances, not a year change, and/or simply the calipers accuracy level, and/or a little corrosion being measured.

We can trim more of the rubber boot away to allow total contact/exact dimension, but that would be at the cost of the boot seal.

If you just squeeze them together good, and kinda of press them up into the trucks brackets, they will fit great and offer a proper seal.
