Acdelco is not the same as the original part for the TB?

darring how do you know these are not the same? I had just posted not long ago asking if anyone had tried these and knew how good they were why didnt you speak up then? As I had said the dealer and manufacturer say they are the same so please report your finding to the community since even v7guy has told me no one else has tried and thinks it would be a good idea to look into these or dont post about things you dont know.

I dont know about that, I just ask a question

this wouldn't be a build thread because we don't have discussions in build threads. Darring wants conversation so this seems perfect to me.

Justin- if they really are a new source of springs that'll be great!

I called RockAuto but they told me those springs (ACDelco) are only for the TB ext and I have an LS

I am geting a little beat confused about the front springs, I dont know what 83's 86's or89's means, is it the lengt of the spring?

I got for my rear suspensiony a z71 spring and skyjacker 8030, Now I am about to buy my front set up, I am going to keep my stock bumper and I am not planning add more weight on the front.

What spring will be the best?

I wasn't aware that there was a difference in front springs on a EXT TB. You might want to look into that some. But I think they're the same for both models.

83, 86, 89 etc are different part numbers. They vary by Spring rate. They are all the same length. The "8x" comes from the last 2 digits of the Gm part number. 83 being the softest, 89 being the most stiff.

RPO codes are basically the options codes that GM assigns to options. You should find a sticker in the center console or glove box with these codes.

The sticker will look like this

You are looking for the sticker Mike posted, should be in your glove box.
Look in the bottom row 6## and 7## (mine were 6WZ and 7WZ just for example)

Now find the spring thread on here, and you'll know what you have.

Unless you are gonna have a lot of added weight, I'd go with 86's

The issue is I don't think you can find either of them in the open market anymore. That is why you are seeing more mention of the MOOG springs.

The odds of finding either is next to none. Have you looked to see how much lift you get with an 86 over what you have? Cause it's a pretty small difference.
You said the 89s looked too big for you, since they would only get you 1/2" higher than the 86s it doesn't make any sense that you'd want different springs at all.

Why do you want springs?

Just out of curiosity, has any one explored the option of getting springs made locally, to the same specs of 88,89, etc. I know back where I used to live in Akron, OH, there was a place called Stuver Spring that could do this. I go back there to visit family, about twice a year, and was thinking of seeing what they could do. I know for sure the Donk & Bubble boys go there, for their rides. I know, bad example. Its crazy, though. A lot of times, when riding by in the a.m., you would see people lined up, cause they're usually first come, first serve. But I at least know they SHOULD be able to make some. From what I've heard, they are reasonable($) as well.

you don't have to replace any springs until you need/want to.
If you want lift, have sagging springs or add a bumper/winch you might want to upgrade your springs.

I'm running my stock springs up front with an oil and radiator skid.
I installed the Z71 springs in the rear for a little lift and because I tow a bass boat regularly.
