MDB Fab. Transmission Skids...

Kyle came over today, and we made his transmission skid.

This one is 1 piece, but I think I'd make it in 2 pieces to sell, to make shipping easier.

Very good Mike, how much weight? Did you think shipping to Germany is okay or did we go the other way like with the radiator skidplate?

Shipping and duty would probably be cost-prohibitive, compared to getting it made there. There are no bends, and only the (2) parts welded on. The one can be a bend, instead of a weld on, though.

I don't have it in CAD yet, but I will soon.

The backlog is on bumpers/sliders/etc., really. Skids and stuff that I don't have very much labor in, I usually get out pretty quickly. In fact, this prototype was going to be for him, if he wanted it for TECORE.

No, that's why I'm the one that answers questions relating to lead times. I do bumpers in the order they come in. There's no reason that skids, that are more important for wheeling than bumpers, and that I can put 10-30 minutes of labor welding together and get out, should have to wait months behind a bunch of bumpers that take me between 10 and 40 hours of labor each to make. That, and with the exception of doing prototypes like this, doing skids doesn't really affect the bumper lead time, because I tend to do them when I other wise wouldn't bother going out into the shop, when I only have 1/2 hour or something. The shipping them doesn't add to lead time, because I ship them at lunch at my real job, when I wouldn't otherwise be at home working on bumpers, anyway.
