I think it would cause shorter tread life.

I figured as much. I doubt the increase in traction is enough to balance the shortened life span.

Oh and an update on my guard dogs 315/70/17 they now have about 18000 miles on them and are still wearing great with no problems ,if I had to guess I have close to or slightly more that 3/4 tread left

As soon as the wife's jeep pro comps wear a little more I'll be putting a set on hers also

I get the kedge with my winter tires, we have a real good amount of ice on our roads here in Wyoming. With that said I don't run the same tires in the summer time so I don't know how the added wear takes place I know it's the only way to go for my winter tires.

I got the kedge in my tires. Basically you end up with a bunch of small pits in the rubber. Supposedly it gives you more traction in inclement weather. I've been driving around for almost a year now and other than pits in the tread I haven't seen any negatives to it.

I used a local guy. He has a service shop, in california I had trouble getting them put on. But here in Wyoming we dont have any vehicle inspections, your allowed to do pretty much what ever you want. Retreads here are more common as well. You might try telling the shops the tires are DOT approved and show them where its stamped on the tread that helped me in california.

Just filed a warranty claim. Two of mine are showing dry rot cracks starting along rims. Only been on for 6 months.

Not bad enough to worry about safety but still not something you want in a basically new tire.
