Can you drive the TB without a cv shaft?

I need to order a 4x4 disconnect and I need to know in the mean time can the TB be drivin with out the cv shaft in? The disconnect housing broke and so I need a new one, going to be a week before I have the funds to but it.

I think you can, I don't see what it would hurt, but I would wait for someone who has done it to chime in.

Yeah I pm'd Roadie he got me squared away, just for your info you can only do that with the passenger side and you have to plug the hole which I have done so Im good for now.

Oh it's plugged for sure, spray paint cap some duct tape and thin wire. It's plugged and the cap isn't comming out for sure.

As long as there is enough of the disconnect left that the shaft that goes through the oil pan is supported by the disconnects bearing you're good to go.

Just out of curiosity, why can you only do this to the passenger CV shaft, not the drivers side? When I had my drivers diff seal go out I left the tripot in the hole, removed the cv shaft and drove around for a few days with out any ill effects. Non of the front drive terrain parts should be moving as long as its not in 4x4 mode.

You can drive with both/either removed so long as the holes are capped. The only thing to be careful about is leaving the intermediate shaft unsupported. That thing can cause damage if free.

Yes, but you can not drive a crankshaft without a throttle body

I took my throttle body off and put a big hamster wheel on the balancer. Took a dozen hamsters but they got the truck movin, no throttle body required.
