Grab handles might not be a bad idea. Passengers seen to like to grab onto cage bars during a roll...

I agree with Donny, but also, gussets... You basically have a cube, there, with the front end weakened by having the extra bend to fit our dash. I understand the "it certainly can't hurt" thought, and I agree, but triangles are way stronger than cubes. Adding 2 tubes and a couple tube gussets would make this 100% stronger than it is, right now, and double as handles.

1. angle brace across the behind-the-front-seats hoop, from passenger floor to behind the driver's head
2. Across behind the driver's back, meeting at the widest point of the cage (similar to the rally car we built in college, below)
3. Bent tube gussets on the inside of the bends, same angle as the bends, at both the top "oh shit handle" bend, and the "right above the dash" bend.

1 and 2 will at least keep you safe for this, and 3 doubles as grab handles while strengthening the front part of the cage.

I understand the basics of cage building, but the #1 priority is the rig still has the be comfortable for seating 5. Grab handles will be added, but not out of steel. Diagonal braces behind the fronmt seats will cause more issues with rear passengers than they will benefit the front.

Like I said, ill add gussets, and rear cage after the trip, but, there will be no changes before the trip to the steel structure.

Roll cage inside will be wrapped, a form a cheating on the paint. Outside is all painted black except for the tire carrier. It will be painted black when finished.

Ill post a pic of the warning sticker, but its about center of gravity and rollovers...

I'm going out to dink around on the 23rd, but no real shakedown before we leave.

Ok, so I just went and weighed the TB...

Its a little on the fat side.

I have spares of: driveshafts, front axle shafts, 2 sets of hubs, front locker, misc hoses and electrical, fluids, tire, etc.
All of the needed tools to fix about anything in a small tool box (but about 40lbs), co2 tank, hilift, straps, chain, tree saver, shackles, snatch block, etc.
Camping gear: tent, chair, 50lb tote full of misc crap, empty cooler, empty water jug.

So now I need to go through and see what I can remove that isnt really needed to take.


Reason being..... 7300lbs with driver!!!

with the winch is the spare front locker really necessary?
