Need a quick question answered.
V8/SWB folks: Are your rear driveshafts made of aluminum or steel? I can get either locally and if the V8 DS is steel, I'll pay the extra.
I can always go look I suppose.
Latest casualty: Rear driveshaft.

I didn't catch that you were talking about also the V8 drive shafts, last night... IIRC, the steel drive shafts started in all the SWB models in '04 or '05... a SWB V8 drive shaft WILL NOT be a drop-in for you, as they are like 4" longer than the I6 drive shaft...

Good catch. 4" longer huh? Strange, must mean the 5.3L is moved forward in the engine compartment since it is shorter.

Nothing exciting unfortunately. Buddy took off from a stop light in front of me. I nailed it to keep up with him. Got up to about 70 and heard a THUNK on the floorboard followed by a bad vibration. Whoops.

This is correct. Shorter engine, but the mechanical fan needs to be in the same place, so they moved the whole thing forward. That's why the frames are different... The rear trans mount is like 4" forward.

Thanks, I ordered one for an 06 this morning.
Looks like the interchange goes all the way back to 03 for steel. Another way the 02's were redheaded stepchildren.
