By extending the CV axles by 2 to 4 inches would it solve some of our issues with them?

To extend the CVs, you also have to extend the arms. 2 to 4 inches might get you another half inch or so of height, assuming the same tripod.

So this wouldn't be such a easy thing to solve my cv popping out of the dif and tearing up boots?

CV popping out of the diff? Are you seating them? The clip should be holding them in. Takes a good hammer and brass drift hit from underneath where skid plate would be to get mine out and Im fully extended on lift with marks new lift and 87 springs with no added weight like steel bumper or anything.

I agree, mine are in there solid. It was a major pain in the ass getting them out.

What is failing then? The tripod housing itself is pulling out of the diff?

Yes this time its Tripod housing pulling out of the dif normally its just the boots ripping. D44 front with a custom Drive axle to mate with your transfer case?

If your tripod is coming out of the diff (and the tripod was properly seated [I always try to unseat mine with a slide hammer a couple times to ensure it's properly seated] ), there's an issue with your circlip on your CV shaft. The tripod joint should not induce any pull on the tripod housing, as it's a slip joint. So if it's coming out, then there's something else going on. Elongating the shaft without elongating the control arms will only make your tripod joint bottom out in the housing, and make it fail.

I had the same problem on my pass side. It was just an issue of not getting it seated all the way. I thought I had it seated, but it wasn't so.
I usually give it a few good whacks after I think it's seated to make sure.

I've seen a few tones where the clip gets twisted from pounding the CV out. Not real common but it does happen. If you don't find the clip on the axle it's inside the diff.
