Hey guys, Im looking into these tires myself. Can anybody help me out on what size wheels to buy? I would like to do the 285 75 16, or 17. What concerns me is the offset. I want the tires to stick out, but I dont really want em 4-5 inches out.

I run 285/75/16 on my stock rims, with 1.5" spacers.

I was going to run them on the stock rims, but that was when I expected to pay $1000+ just for tires!! I would like to get some aftermarket rims, but not sure what offset to get as all the ones I like are wider and have big lips. I see that I can get the spacers that change the bolt pattern to the more common full size truck pattern so that makes the sea of options even greater!! Unfortunately more options means more confusion!!

I just went with stock rims and a spacer. Its the cheap route and that leaves me with more cash for breakage or a different project.

Yeah I'm not sure that I want to get them and then an then something completely random like a tire explode and get screwed cause I'm out of warranty. They'll blame it on the wheel size.

I went with Crager soft 8's when I got my 285/75/16's. Cheap priced rims that serve their purpose just fine. Price went up $20 a wheel since I got them in July but still good price

Treadwrights are heavy tires and soft 8 are heavy rims...aluminum rims are priced pretty similar and lighter.

Actually there is vendor on local craiglist with brand new ion alloys for 75-100 each all the time. Including centers but you pay sales tax.

I will agree with you there. They are HEAVY to pick up and mount to the truck. But still not impossible, even for me with my shoulder, knee and neck issues. I dont know for everywhere but I always get free shipping from summit, so that was a benefit. I thought it was because I live in GA and there is a big Summit center here in GA but looking at my previous orders the wheels came out of OH.

Some of the newer Silverado aluminum takeoffs look pretty good on our platform and you can find them reasonable online.

Back spacing is 6" or 50mm offset... 7" wide wheel for stock wheels.

I just ordered a set of brand new rims for $130/ wheel from Jegs, (17" with 5.5" backspace 25mm offset) so they should only stick out 3.5" ish compared to stock with spacers... Granted I am stuck waiting till may but they are light and inexpensive to me. I'll be ordering tread wrights once i know the wheels are being shipped. First set of wheels and tires I've gotten for under $1k.

Last set was close to $2k .... Forged wheels and Dunlop Direzza Z1 star spec. ( I use to auto-x) hopefully will get back into it one day, ran into debt with college bills and terrible job market with no job so my toy had to go for bills.

I know that the 285/70/17 with the stock wheels with just marks 3" sus lift and z71 spings will call for pretty major plastic cutting

I was wondering how the guys with the 35s are liking them Hard or Don I think you both have them

They do just fine... but don't be shy when you air them down. 12psi is where they start to bite. I've run them at 10 and never peeled a bead.
