The 17" vs 16" wheel post got me thinking...
My brakes are fine now, but have been through one "pad cycle." My personal rule is that I'll swap just pads only once, and the next time around do calipers/rotors. Call me superstitious.
Since my next change will involve all brake hardware, and I'm married to 17" wheels anyway, I'm wondering if LWB brakes are a simple replace mounting bracket/calipers/rotors job, or if the hub assemblies are different altogether.
Rationale: Bigger wheels/tires are harder to stop, why not get a little boost?
