Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Any thoughts on MB Wheels?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

I'm looking at a 3rd set of tires for the tb. Being a weekend work set, I'd like to keep the investment to a minimum. Anyway, I'm looking into MB Wheels and Treadwright tires.

Thoughts on MB Wheels/Treadwright tires? The wheel size is 16x8 with 25mm offset and Guard Dog tires, 265/70/16s.

Again, not needed for daily driving/adverse conditions, just for weekend work, like dragging "stuff" or hauling wood.

May be important to add stock ride height, stock suspension, except upgrading to HD Bilstein and helper bags out back.

There's also a big Treadwright thread, but I'm not going to search for it...

Actually, I think he meant MB wheels that are sold through Discount tire... am I correct?

They suck. I mean, I LOVE the way they look, I get many compliments, but 10k miles in and a year later and I have had one replaced for the finish peeling and another is on its way out; very frustrating. And my one year warranty is coming up in a week or two, so I need to get a replacement plan fast. My hopes is that Discount will work with me on them; I have found multiple forums online about some of their wheels finish peeling off.

That does seem very fast to be losing a finish. I spraypainted mine, and they've been hanging on pretty well since 2008.

FWIW my AR wheels only lose finish with liberal exposure to rocks... and touch up easily. I think the cost is similar...

Its too bad when I checked Discount Tire for the wheels, the cheap ones were gone. So now its looking like the chrome MB Gunner 6... which I'd be fine with a plain finish but can't get. I've searched all over the damn internet it seems and there just aren't many options for a 16x8 with the 6x5/6x127 bolt pattern. I won't use spacers/adapters since the daily driven setup doesnt need them. This 3rd set of wheels is for occational weekend use. So if anyone knows of other 16x8s with less back spacing and are cheaper, well, that'd be a useful piece of information. The Gunner 6s are now $165ea in my area. About $80ea more than what they are worth to me.

Bleh. Buy some 6x5-6x5.5 adapters and some 6 bolt Chevy patterned steelies in black.

How do chrome wheels hold up in the great north salt?
