Neither of these show the trax being used in mud though, so that could definitely be something I would be able to test. I also have a set of waffle-boards, so it would make for an interesting comparison.

My other vehicle is an Olds Alero, I currently keep a set in the trunk. Maxtrax fit perfectly in sideways. There is talk of producing a smaller version in the future.

Robert, does the maxtrax help at all on ice? I ask because I remember a scene from my childhood where my Dad was stuck on a sheet of ice, and only had about 10 small rocks to use. He would drive about 6 inches forward, then have to re-set his rocks in front of the tire. It wasn't funny at the time, but funny now.

Yes they work on ice. My favorite part of Maxtrax is that multiple sets can be linked together with the fixing and linking kit. This basically allows you to build a road of your own. Included in the fixing and linking kit are also pegs that allow Maxtrax to be fastened to the ground for extra stability.

These look loke a good product especially for where I am at with the deep powder snow and tons of ice we get. I am sure they work great but at the current asking price not only do I have other options but I would expect more. Say load bearing, for what your asking price is I have other products in mind that will allow me to also use said products as bridge planks. I am less concerned about weight and looks then functionality. Just my .02 about the product.
