Hello all! It is with great pleasure I have been introduced to your forum by James Downing. I have shared a product with him called Maxtrax and now I would like to share it with you. Since April I have been using and supplying off road enthusiasts with Maxtrax, a vehicle recovery tool to make getting unstuck a simple task for almost anyone. Maxtrax are not meant to eliminate the winch, but are easier to use (especially if there is nothing to hook up to or if you are alone) and they eliminate the strain on other vehicles as well. I clicked, no issues so far.

I will say, though... $300 for bridging ladders is a bit steep. IMO

:Iagree: That's winch territory, and I'd rather have a winch/pullpal than sand ladders. I don't think those are designed to actually hold the trucks weight like bridging ladders.

The other question is, are they strong enough to be used as bridging ladders, or are they just a traction aide?

I have seen them used as a bridge for ATV's but they are not designed for use as a bridging ladder for trucks and SUV's. The price has been one of the main issues we are facing right now. However due to the cost of manufacturing, this is where we have landed as of right now, $299.00. The durability of Maxtrax is exceptional. They are made of reinforced nylon (not plastic), so there is more than enough flexibility. Keep in mind these were designed and tested in the rugged Australian Outback and I even had a customer who uses them in the snow covered mountains of Mongolia. I've sent him a few emails, Rob seems like a good guy.

Maxtrax are known recovery devices. A bit more expensive than a fiberglass grating ladder, but they work better from the reports I've read.

Comparing a winch to a Maxtrax is like apple to orange. Different tools that don't necessarily replace each other in every situation.

On the plus side, I can see an offroad/expo group buying a set for quick extractions where setting up a strap/winch would be cumbersome.

I had a customer recently who builds custom trucks for shows. He built a Fire Rescue vehicle for SEMA 2011 which I have been attending the past 5 years. He thought they would be a great accessory and the orange Maxtrax even matched the lettering on the truck. Check out his truck:

I agree with Gordin. Seems like an effective product. Not willing to pay $300+ for it though. Group buy discount, perhaps? Military? How about a badass discount?

I had the opportunity to use these at the overland rally earlier this year.

Pros: Light weight, Compact (interlocking stack-able), Multiple uses (traction aid, shovel), Looks Cool on your roof rack.

Cons: Over priced, Not durable, Not as effective as advertised

Need to post video of guys trying to get a set out of a mud hole like their wallet was strapped to the bottom of them.
Truck they were trying to get out had to be winched out and the vendors would freak if there was any wheel spin cause it will ruin them, but what to you expect on a hill like this /...

But honestly, Bill has the best playground to test them. :flex dirty:

As previously stated, these things aren't cheap though... I doubt Robert can afford to just give them away.

Putting postings up in a free forum does not peak my interest on a product. Reviews form independent users such as theroadie, Scott Brady (Overland Journal, LLC / Expeditions West) or yourself James would speak to the credibility of the product. One set from a vendor to you or Bill could be the turning point in sales, or prove the products failings within this community. Robert could give a taste of the product through one of you and allow us to glean from it.

Depends on how serious Robert is about sales.

Any plans to make a shorter version of these for passenger cars? They'd be great for people around here who seem to veer to the nearest ditch when snow falls. My wife usually volunteers to work Christmas day and I've spent the first half of every Christmas that we've had snow driving around and pulling people back onto the road.

At the right price a smaller set would be great to keep in the trunk, more so for those up north. :thumleft:
