G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

110 is too cold... You really want it to get to 160F, which is considered "warmed up" by the manufacturer, and is the temperature that the valves and such are meant to work...

My crew cab, all factory coolers, runs in the low 100s as well untill I hit a hill or towing. I have no issues with how the trans acts at low temps. On the TB, If I use cruise control, or start wheeling, the temps shoot up quickly.

update... I knew something was fishy with my rear case (trying to pop out of gear). After the last wheeling trip the bolts pulled out of front of the doubler (front case) causing a leak. So I dropped everything out, and opened up the rear case. I lost the input planetary, the range gear, range fork, and filled everything else with metal shavings.

Im guessing the shock from it repeatedly popping worked the bolts loose untill they pulled out. I just need to oversize the doubler mounting bolts, install my spare rear case (after putting in a 32 spline input, and SYE), add a rear case support/mount, and I should be back wheeling.

On a positive note, with the cases out, I was able to hook up my ebrake cables and cross that off the list!

Which is really odd for me, my wife says I'm always looking at the negatives!

Took it out again, works great. Ran a local canyon, nothing really hard but it was muddy, rocky, with snow and ice. Good day overall and picked up a ton of trash (it was actually a cleanup with trail run).

I need to trim the front fenders in front of the tires behind the headlight, thats where im rubbing now at full stuff.

Stopped for a pic:

It looks a lot tighter than it is. If it ever breaks, ill relocate.

Also I was playing pretty easy in the snow with the TB and watched the trans hit 200 degrees pretty easy with an aftermarket cooler. Im considering adding an electric fan to the trans cooler for slow speed wheeling.

Took out the TB again, beat on it pretty hard.

Carnage:

Scraped up all 4 wheels
Bent both sliders
Broken headlight, grill, cb antenna, and winch box
Pulled apart front d-line (Need to upgrade to long travel)

But Im getting more used to it and its doing really good

Good lord man, did you jump it off a 20ft crevice that was 6ft wide and then winch back up it?

We need more details... and pics!

I took a couple poser pics but that was it. Just big rocks on the sliders, caught a tree with the headlight, different tree got the antenna, 6' waterfall got the winch box, and a nastly climb got the d-line. I'm working on some carnage pics now.

So the headlight is fine, but I shattered the mounting bracket for it. (Would have rather it been my foggy headlight instead!)

Do you know at what point you bent the slider?

To climb one spot I bounce off the driver slider pretty hard, but the passenger was just my tire slipping off a rock and the weight of the rig landing on the rock right behind the tire. That outer tube is 1.75 wall DOM, with 1.5" DOM tube inside of it.

I plan to cut these apart and do some modifications. Directly under the rocker Im going to replace the tube with 2x2x.25 wall box tube against the body, then reattach the outer bars and tie in some fender hoops to help strengthen the ends.

The problem is the frame is twisting and bending where the sliders are attached to the frame, there just isnt enough thickness there.

You did the 4"x5"x3/16" or 1/4" plates on the frame, to spread the load, right? And still having frame bending issues?

I thought you had... So it's time to plate the whole outside of the frame?
