Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

off road GPS... topographic maps etc

Dumping ground for offroad Trailblazer or Envoy general discussion.

I've been gearing up for trails and weekend camping.
One of the bigger subjects on various forums have been topographic maps. To be blunt... I can't read and really don't know what one is. I've only been reading for a few hours.

While assuming there is an android app for everything I searched for it and came up with these threads.

http://androidforums.com/application-announcements/56405-i-am-developing-new-gps-app.html

Does anyone have any info they can share for learning physical maps? Any info for software maps?

Specifically I'm geared towards the android apps but this would be a good place for any and all smart phone topographical GPS apps.

I've been looking at this lately. It appears there could be several Android/Iphone options... everything seems sorta iffy though. I haven't gotten a chance to get really deep offroad, have any of you found these apps useful? Here's what I've found.

I use backcountry navigator, i used the demo first and then purchased the premium one. It works well and does not need cell service. Any questions just let me know.

Not sure how I managed it but I don't suppose someone could merge the two topographic map threads I made could they?

I didn't see this one listed: http://overlandnavigator.com/

I have no personal experience, but I have read good reviews.
