What takes a while is recalibrating your eyeballs for rocks you're about to drive over. What used to make you cringe waiting for the impact is about to be a non-event you don't even have to steer around. I can't tell you how many 8" rocks I dodged before I got confidence to just go over 'em straight on.

Stock height, I got to the point that I'd call out when we were about to hit, then after I did the springs, small spacers, and tires, I found that I was hitting about 1/5 as much as I had before...

FINALLY!! Got rims and tires. Waiting on my spacers to come in. I havent pestered bill in a while... perhaps he can help me with some fender trimming.



Went with silverado rims wrapped in BFG All-Terrain KO 285/75R16
Pretty sure i'm gonna rattle can the rims black, but wann see what they look like on the truck as is first.

I would LOVE to take a saw to your fenders. You might want to buy the Flexi-flare material as well to cover the edges. Greg got a fixit ticket once in PB.

Sorry I didn't check ORTB during SEMA, so I missed this message. I went by the ICON booth, decided they hadn't done enough to get my full attaboys, and I wandered off to go insult Bushwacker. Longer show report later, but I was TOTALLY conflicted about how to treat the vendors that disrespected the platform like Procomp, etc. I ended up taking the high road and snubbing them, like they cared.

Bill assisted me in installing my spacers and whieels this weekend. What a rainy groggy day. Well worth it though.

So after a test run or 2 with the new tires i've come to 2 conclusions. A) Significant fender trimming is required B) I'll be needing 89's in the front ESPECIALLY when the bumper gets here. Theres rubbing happening in the top of the wheel well. Plus after a few weeks with that rad skid on i've noticed some sagging up front. So some trimming and stiffer springs should be it.
On to another topic. I swung by a few "auto parts salvage facilities" looking for a G80. Of the 4 places I went, one had a wrecked envoy with low miles and a locker. However they were 4:10 and thats an investment i'm not able to make right now considering he wanted $1400 for front/rear. So if any SoCal guys are interested, pm me and i'll send you the info for where it is.

FWIW, the rad skid weighs 64#... It's more likely that compressing the springs past their normal level at full travel (i.e. the lift) is what has compressed the springs... The rad skid won't have compressed them any more than somebody sitting in the passenger seat, and that doesn't cause the springs to take a set... The extra weight of the bumper, both skids, and a winch hanging out there can help compress them, statically, and can make the lifted, coil-binding (and taking a set) worse, but it's compressing them more than the design that causes them to take a set...
