plastic rocker trim

Dumping ground for offroad Trailblazer or Envoy general discussion.

Does anyone have a pic of what the body metal looks like under the plastic I want to remove it but if there are mounting holes visible that don't look good my wifes trail rating will go to ten. Impassable with anything less then diamonds and gold. Which really cuts into my mod savings.

If I recall, there's just a fold seam under the door. Nothing unslightly. But it honestly doesn't improve clearance much, and leaves your door seals susceptible to more crud and weather.

Yep, gives ~1" of ground clearance on EXT models, but doesn't do much of anything on SWB models, except get rusty from your wheels throwing rocks into it...

Now, if you're doing rock sliders, there is a little over 1" that the plastic rocker covers go down at the front and the rear (the metal rocker is flat the whole way)... So, for the most ground clearance on your rock sliders, the thing to do is cut the bottom of the covers off, front and back... Can't see it standing next to the vehicle, but allows you to get your rock sliders up another 1" off the ground...

You can sort of see mine here:

My sliders are on inside out, the curved part clears the plastic this way. I wouldn't have gained any by taking them off. As much as I hear rocks bounce off the sliders, I'm glad the plastic stayed.

I also asked the same question, and ended up leaving them.

Mine are on "right side out". I didn't cut or remove the plastic either. I guess I lost an inch this way, but it's barely noticeable since I'm body lifted. It gives the sliders a little flex room if you land on them.
