so....
being that we have the most tenured tb offroaders in here i was wondering if you could help me out. i know in the trail there are gonna be casualties and i was wondering what spare parts i should carry. what are our weak points if my inexperiance causes some breakage im fine with that and accept the fact that it will but i wanna know what i should carry with me partswise. please let me know what you guys all carry. besides emergency equipment just parts

I'm a newb to offroading as well but I understand the inner tie rod end is the weakest part of our front end.
I think a lot of folks carry spare axles and 4wd selector switches.

Our oil pan hangs low so if you drag over rocks without armor that could be a bad day.
Our radiator is also susceptible to carnage without armor especially if you run without the bumper cover.

Spares I carry:

Tie rods, inner and outer, 2 sets
CV half shaft
Serpentine belt
Coolant hoses
PCM
Ignition Switch
Ignition Relay
4x4 Selector switch
Fluids
Water

That's in addition to the miniature hardware store in the back of my rig.

Bill's at SEMA, or you'd have a much longer list from him.

Don't forget your fuses, including the megafuse.

the good part of it is some items maybe you replaced them that were worn but not broken (hoses, belts) and they might get you home or back to the highway. Others you might be able to pick up in a JY cheap if you can find one.

I have a local pick-n-pull here that I'd like to visit when I get ahead. You can get rear axles there for $150 according to their price list. I'd love to pick up a spare PCM and have it tuned

From the roadie's build thread-"Spares carried on the trail: 4WD and ignition switch, front hub and bearing, two CV axles, inner and outer tie rod ends, serpentine belt, at least a quart of each fluid, all lamps, all fuses and spare relays, duct tape and JB Weld."

Not much different than yours Fish. ;)

But what Donny didn't say was that he also has an air compressor to assist him in the field.

The compressor/tank is for tires mostly. I doubt I could drive an impact gun off of it for long.

True... if it comes to that though a breaker bar and a HiLift handle work well. I don't know if I have any more room for an impact gun.
