The Dirt on 33x12.5s?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Have a zero lift 05 TB.

Running 1.25" spacers with 265/70 17 now.

Have a deal on 33 x 12.5 17's.

Look like they would clear on the inside of the front width wise, and the rear looks like no issues.

It's pretty obvious I'll need to lift the front up to do much turning.

Any suggestions on how much? I'd like to do as little as possible. I'm trying to keep in budget, so spacers would be a good fit I think, and hopefully a lift amount that wont require a bunch of other components to work, ie steering/sway bar extensions/etc.

How many miles, and do you want to upgrade shocks front and back to go with the lift? Better shocks could cost as much as the kit, and may affect your decision.

Z71 springs in the back are about the cheapest form of lift available, and I posted yesterday about a huge deal on Ebay, but it may be over by now. You can buy front spacers only from SuspensionMaxx in a few sizes, and I think Markmc will also sell just fronts if you decide to do springs. But Mark's spacer-only kit may be the all around budget-helping option.

Whatever you do, if you blow all your budget on lift, how do you plan to have enough recovery and safety equipment to actually USE the truck offroading?

I've got alot of that already from other vehicles. Tow straps/chains/hi-lift jack... No winch yet, but I'll be making a tubular bumper shortly to incorporate one, so that's another reason I'm on a budget with this lift... Already blew a bunch of dough on PIAA fogs, rear upper and lower control arms/panhard, buncha other junk...

I dont think I'll need to lift the back. Seems like alot of clearance. Fact is I just cant stand these pedestrian Wrangler S/T's i've got on there now, and I'm getting the 33's for darn cheap.

You need this thread:

Dirty Anton has the tires you are looking at. You can see, he is not without mods. In fact, he is on the 'very built' end of things.

If you're looking to save money on the lift, find different tires.

Be prepared to cut a lot if you want to fit that size with only minimal lift. If you want the tires, get them. But keep in mind that you will need a certain amount of clearance that is to be determined once they are installed. Have a little bankroll available to buy whatever else you will need.
