The entrance to The Flats

This was a awesome event, Everyone was cool no weird looks, exept for the guy in the Miata, just kidding he was cool to.
First thing I did was the photo class, Learned how to take better pics. I joined the beginners offroad driving class near the end
and took the whole class saturday. Trail ride after class.

Some pics of the truck, James I dedicate the removal of my runnerboards to you. Yes I got hung on them but I was able to
back off no recovery needed. Then I bent one on a trail ride, Got back to camp and they came off.

Bottom of the Graduation Hill, This is a fun hill, last thing we did in the beginners offroad driving class.

after the first curve, next part is slippery and you need a spotter cause it levels out half way up and turns a little and there is
a rock sticking out of the wall and you can't see it when you get there, If you hit it you may turn over and if you hit it fast you may roll down the drainage area in the right of the first pic of the hill.

This hill was easy but alot of fun up or down(no brakes allow going down).

Some veiws...

The Unimog
Slow but unstoppable, He drove it there it tops out at about 50mph.

This is what I called camp, Didn't bother with all the gear on short notice just slept in truck. Town was a
whopping 1.5 miles away. 4Runner next to me had 4x4 troubles, jeep guys tried to get it engaged but could
only get it in 4hi so they didn't get to do much which sucked cause they were from Louisiana and thats a long
drive, talked to them some, they had a pretty cool setup in cargo area. Looked like a shelf with gear under and sleep
area on top, Good use of space.
Image

This is the truck that won th Trophy challenge, rained sat afternoon and the big rigs dug up graduation hill
real bad, I couldn't make it up the hill in the challenge, Would have been cool to make it up might have won. I was teamed up with winner in beginning and had to find a sign by coordinates bonus for doing it on foot which we did. He won a set of MaxTrax.
I had a tire go flat on the hill, forgot my tire plug kit again and used fix-a-flat to get to store for a kit. Lucky tire not damaged.

This guy's FJ was his toy I was told these are the second set of doors since he got it new. As long as they work he doesn't care about the dents, nice setup.

Please, if anybody can't find the overland rally main page, do NOT ask for the URL. Any of the regulars could tell you why. :shoot:
