G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

The diff on the DD HP44 is 2.5" more towards the centerline of the rig than my dana 60, but, the diff is also smaller.

You may be able to squeeze it under with little or not much more lift than I have.

But that rear sump pan would make all the difference in the world.

The 44 would put the springs in more, which would let you run more backspacing and keep the tires more under. Right now with my 42's, I still just barely rub the leaf springs.

Wow Steve, that thing is bad-ass! Did you get the hydro installed? I'd like to see how that was done, just curious.

If you'd like to get your rig on the home page of the site, post up a 800px × 600px photo and I'll insert it into the slideshow.

What were the bugs that needed to get worked out?

No hydro yet. I had a hub fail at the beginning of the day, I need to adjust the shifters for the T-cases, need to trim for tire rubbing, install rear shocks, and fix my T-case to fuel tank rub. Most of it I knew about already.

I havent had it out since the last trip. I have been playing with the car instead.

I wanting to go out friday night, so that means install rear shocks, turn passenger front shock around (steering arm is hitting the dial on the rs9000) adjust rear case shifter, and fill up the trans and hope for the best.

I had changed out the radiatior before the sas swap, then changed t-cases, so the trans got a little low. It was just something I missed on my pre trip checks. So, last trip trans was acting up, and no fluid on dipstick. It may be time for a new trans...

I know, it was my own fault, no reason to get excited over it.

I just dont want to fork out the cash...

Ill fill it up and drive it around a little to see how bad it is.

I already had most of the big stuff, but to build similar with new parts, there is about $2500 in axles, $500 in suspension, $500 in steering, $3000 in wheels and tires, $1000 in t-case and d-line stuff, plus winch, optima, cb, etc. etc.

But Im realistically into the rig and parts $9-10k.

So it may not be the trans after all...

Im pretty sure the trans goes off of speed, and rpm. Well my trans seems to work ok in 2wd high range, but its crappy in 4low, and flat out wont leave 1st in 4 Low Low.

So, it may be time for a stand alone trans computer that gives me full manual control.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't leave 1st, but I assume it has to do with no longer having a speed sensor? We have a speed sensor that feeds information into the PCM from the output of the transfer case.

At least you could throw it into 2 right? 2 forces it into 2nd gear (unless very high demand (like WOT) is on the engine, which will downshift it to 1st).

Oh - and there's also an article on our site that loosely explains how to turn the 4L60E into a "manual" operation. See the bottom of this page: http://www.offroadtb.com/articles/tech- ... -documents

Ok found the problem!!!

This will apply to anyone who swaps out the electric shift t-case for a manual 231.

There is an output on the transfer case shift motor that tells the pcm the truck is in 4-low. Without this input, the trans tries to shift off the mph values, since its in 4 low, these values are never reached.

You can compare an e-shift truck, to a manual shift truck in the fullsizes and find out how to correct the wiring.

Since I have dual cases, I need manual control

Thanks for the link! But, Rossler Transmission sells "The Little Black Box" its one plug, plus 2 wires, and full manual control without ever dropping the pan.
