I like the guard dogs, but I'll thinking about getting the Backbones. They are a bit more aggressive, and more true to the "Mud Terrain" label. Money is building up in the bank right now, so I have a little time to decide whether I want 285/75s with stock rims, or 305/70s with a rim upgrade.

Ok so I found out today why my tires weighed so much lees then Teebees, I got sent the puma pattern load range E on matching bridgestone carcuss's. I called Treadwright immediatly, keep in mind at first I was pissed but I do like the tire I didn't need the guard dog pattern untill I am done with my move and this less rugged pattern will save a little on gas going from one end of the U.S. to the other. So I expressed my frustration with them and they took care of me, I got the differance of cost back along with what I paid in shipping and 10% off my next purchase which will be the guard dog's when I really actually need them. So all in all I am happy with the tires and the company, they have my buisness for now on.

Sweet deal. I like how they gave the discount on the next purchase...they made sure you came back to them.

Yeah, I really didn't need the agressive tread pattern untill I am able to get my truck armored corectly and that won't be untill after the move. But my old tires are so bad I couldn't wait so this is not a bad thing the puma pattern will save a little fuel. I wasn't irate or anything explaining my situation to them I did say that I will just keep this set but that I will consider other companies before I use treadwright again and that's when they offered all that sweetness. Now I think that new tires will come after the body lift and suspension lift so that I can really stick it to the man and get bigger tires. :woot: :excited: But on a serious note there customer service is awesome and they really do want you to come back and they don't have a problem with working out a solution with you at all.

Well I figured now is a great time to give an update. Currently in he north east we are getting a decent amount of snow 12-18" last I heard. I just got home after driving on 2" of snow packed down onto major roadways, I have to say I am damn impressed with the traction. I was always nervous about mud terrains in snow as everyone said they just plain suck in packed/light snow. I drove about 15-20 miles no problem in 2wd, and NO g80. Getting started and going was like I was on tar. I'm not saying they won't break free with a lil skinny pedal, I'm saying the truck is much more easy to control.

I'll give another deep snow report in the next day or two.

Glad they are working out for you... I'm finally seeing mine struggle some in snow... I guess with 50k miles the edges have rounded down some. How many miles do yours have?

I ended up crab walking up my inlaw's hill the other day. The speedometer read 20mph, but I was only going about 4. Still made it up and down though. Time for new tires. :? .... :D

So... I ordered 2 Guard Dogs in 315-70/17 last night. They shipped this morning. Wow.

I'll run them on the rear and see how I like them. Then get some more money together and do the fronts as well.

They are the best tires that I have ever got for off road. I know that I will get them from TreadWright as long as I can lol.

They showed up yesterday.

Mine were on 35x12.50x17LT BFG MT KM2 carcasses. Interesting since I ordered 315-70-17 for my size. No biggie. They are a bit bigger than the ATs. That means more trimming. I have a little bit of the front of the plastic liners (rear) to cut off.

The tread on these is IMPRESSIVE. The pics on TW website don't do it justice. Nice and squishy soft too. The pattern is a dead ringer for older style MTRs.

After I got them mounted up and home I noticed what looks like a split on the outer blocks.

They're on both sides of each tire. I wonder if it's part of the manufacturing process? I'm sending an email to TW and I'll see what they say.

I'll definitely be ordering two more.

Forget who it was, but they had a similar issue and got a free set of tires because TW said they had a defective rubber supplier. Might be in this thread, can't search for it now

Looks like a knit line to me. I'd guess they didn't get full rubber flow into that area of their core.

Practically all tires will have knit lines, but those look a bit too big to me. Mine had some very small knit lines, which is where they first began chunking.

TW got back to me today.... said after having a few eyes look at it that they appeared to be cosmetic only. That's fine, as they really didn't look too bad to me.

Donny if treadwright offered a different tire such as the Howler M/T, Sentinel A/T or Warden A/T in the 315 70 17 would have bought one of these instead? Why or why not?
