So i watched this video on youtube, and this guy has a Flowmaster 40 series muffler with a resonator. Now he said without resonators with the Flowmaster 40 the TB will sound like d00 d00. Is this true?

It depnds on what you like, but I would say so. Several years ago I put on a cat back system from Doug Thorley (I think, this was in 05). It consisted of a straight through muffer and a tail pipe that went straight out the back. I installed it on a Friday, hitched up to a 16' box trailer and drove about 700 miles that weekend. First thing Monday morning I was at the exhaust place getting a resonator installed. To me, the sound was horrible :wallbash:

Yeah I was never a fan of flowmaster on our trucks. I personally have a Hooker Aerochamber on mine. Its quiet when your just cruising but when you really lay into it the truck will roar. :viking:

I put on a Flowmaster 70 for a few months and it was WAY too noisy.

Treading Lightly on the earth INCLUDES not making unnecessary noise, IMHO. :safari:

all the teenagers around us (my son, nephews and their friends) want all these loud trucks.
I keep telling them when you take that girl home late at night you want a quiet truck but they don't listen :-)

So what did you end up with for a muffler? Of your videos posted the Roadiemobile has always sounded the same. What did you have before? It did not sound stock with a res delete, it sounded aftermarket.

Maybe it was just the broken motor mounts! :raspberry:

I've got a Wagner in there that's about 80% the size of stock. I got screwed by somebody's brother I traded a too-noisy Magnaflow for what should have been an OEM. Nuff said.

I use a dynomax. Adds a little sound but still reasonably quiet.

I don't really see a reason to change it at all?

I do. I got a bit of acceleration via seat of pants testing after my hooker. Sounds better and in combo with my other mods it has helped keep my mpg respectable. Also probably a third of the weight of monster stock setup.

Acceleration at WOT and 4k rpm maybe, but I can't see how it affects mpg. I am curious what mileage you currently get though.

I never hardly go wot or even 4k. Not a race truck. A good flowing exhaust will often improve fuel economy. Our exhaust is good stock w 2.75 in pipe but the huge muff and can on back don't help any. I had my tune set for the opened air intake and for free flow catback style exhaust. Works well in concert. Get about 14 in town and 16 to 17 at 70ish on highway. And that is with 35 and 3.73. My 33 were just about the same but city was a hair better. I don't have a functioning fuel gauge so all calculations are done by hand.
