I pulled out my radiator and thermostat, found the t-stat problem.

Sucks to have to do it on a rig I just bought, but when done, the new radiator, t-stat, and hoses will give me some peace of mind.

Thermostat is in, but waiting on my radiator...

So to keep going: I pulled both driveshafts, its all up hill from here.

Why did the radiator need replacing? Was it leaky?

Yeah it was leaking coolant from around where the transmission lines tie in. I didnt want to mess with attempting to reseal it.

Ok, swapping my transfer cases.

3 speed sensors on the original t-case. Which one is for the speedometer? I need to change the plug to have it hook to the new t-case?

Worst case I could trial and error, but thats down the road a ways.

Sadly I don't know which of the two rear ones is the VSS.

But here's a quote on it all:

The transfer case shift control module converts the pulsating AC voltage from the font transfer case speed sensor to front propshaft speed in RPM to be used for calculations, and to monitor the difference between the front and rear sensor speed. It is also used in the AUTO (Adapt) mode of operation to determine the amount of slip and the percent of torque to apply to the front axle. The front propshaft speed can be displayed with a scan tool.

Aluminum exhaust hanger- Removed
Muffler- Removed

Now for the third time of test fitting, I hope it goes in!

Good luck. Try and toss of pics if you get a chance. I like the spring hanger mount in the front. It got me to go out and poke around my Suburban. Thinking swap from TC to tires and go big. Can always work out a link suspension later after working out the major bugs. Thanks for working on this and sharing the ideas and progress.

Duals are in!

A little tighter clearance between the tank and the transfer case than I would like, but it will have to work for now. Im planning on cutting off the tank mounts and sliding them back an inch or so.

I still need to work out shifters, along with vss wiring.

For those interested, its a standard 27 spline output on the 4l60e. Uses the 5 bolt round adapter, same as the s10 platform.

With those spring he has to go spring over. It is pretty rare to see a spring under setup these days and would take some serious custom spring packs for his goals.

Thanks, I know a little about leaf springs, but admittedly not a whole lot. I know spring under tends to give extra axle wrap, but it gets the springs a little more out of the way.

Yep, spring over. -m using stock 52" Chevy rear leaf springs for the front and rear. Easy to find to replace when broken.

Steering isn't going to be as bad as first expected. The u-joint in the shaft allows enough angle to change directions to forward and run to a box. Pillow block will be needed, but it should work out well.

If it all comes together, it should be sitting on tires next weekend. Then the long road to working out all the details.
