Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

So I tripped and fell...

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

...into some used tires.

315/70/17 BFG AT T/A KOs. I got 5 of em with usable tread for a price I couldn't pass up.

Image

They rub in the front if I turn sharply... but just where the gray plastic is. I guess I finally need to cut some body sheet metal. I was able to drive it home this way without any drama.

We cycled the rear suspension with jacks at the tire place (they were pretty cool) and the rear tires don't rub on the front. I think with the body lift and extra inch or so of padding on my bumpstops I'll be OK.

A big thanks to Kyle for some last minute advice...

So I have a perfectly good set of 32" M/Ts for sale...

You know what, ignore that. I'd have to buy all 17s so I might as well just get my own tires. Cheaper that way

Nice. Fills it out much better. I think you got a fair deal and some good tires to beat up for awhile.

I agree. They actually looked better out in the light than in the warehouse... and we found a matching 5th one. One is darned near brand new and will be my spare for the forseeable future. I think in a pinch I can make these last me the rest of the year.

The guys at the tire place were pretty excited to get them on... almost as excited as I was.

I did some trimming... here is my biggest point of concern.

Interestingly, it's only on the driver's side. I cut the passenger side too but it's not nearly as close. I'm debating on further shortening the sliders. I may also run into the firewall problem that Kyle has mentioned before. Time will tell.

Comparison shot.

Hell, I have my share of catching up to do.

Looks great. Those tires have never left me stranded.

Nice! :thumleft:

Do they measure about 34.3" (107.9" circumference)?

Could the space difference be due to different caster L to R?

The best of the bunch measures about 109.5" circumference. That calcs out to about 34.85"

The one in the pic (not nearly as much tread) sits just under 34" measured from the ground.

It's got to be the caster. Probably time for a real alignment.

Are they h2 takeoffs?

I need to measure the diameter of mine and see how they compare.

Getting some adjustable rear arms as well? Getting pretty close from the looks of the first pic.

Unsure. This place specialized in used tires.... they apparently get them by the truckload. I was actually there to pick up a couple front tires for my buddy's car. (I give strange birthday gifts)

Uneeded. As the suspension compresses, the wheels move back towards the center of the well. We cycled the suspension pretty good using jacks at the tire shop. Wasn't even close.
