Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

I have had just as good of luck with bb's (metal or airsoft) as the dyna beads.

Love the KM2's, what size?

285/75/16. Will need to do some trimming so they don't rub offroad.

And I've heard about bb's or air soft pellets working but I've had a few personal friends not have them work, so I wanted to try the real deal and see if they work. If not then I'll be out more $$ than if I just tried bb's. So hopefully I have some good results.

I really decided on this route over traditional balancing because I couldn't find a shop around that would mount these for under $40 each. Got them online for cheaper than any shop charges but then they want to bend me over on the mount/balance. Found a local guy that'll take off my current tires and put these on for next to nothing, so if the beads work I'll be happy.

The beads work. You'll be fine.
Why not mount them yourself?
I did mine. Took me less than 2 minutes a tire and that was a month after back surgery.

The Kumho's lasted how long? You're going up to a 285 correct? Did you get a BL?

I will be looking forward to seeing those on the truck.

You can use gas to help mount them you know. :raspberry:

Thought about it, but I'm giving a guy a case of beer and no work involved. Just was not looking forward to taking the Kuhmos off the rims, don't think it would have been to bad to get the tires on...

Yup, 265/75/16 to 285/75/16. No body lift. Don't mind cutting, so I'll have to test em out to find out how much is needed. I've seen the 'redneck' mounting of the tires, thought about it but I'd rather trade some beers for a machine to mount them.

And the Kuhmo's lasted 50k. Still have some tread on them, but I have patches/plugs in 3 of them (from nails/screws) and Uncle Sam was nice to me this year with my taxes. Also since they were directional I never put the 5th spare into use, until my last flat, so that tire is basically new. Otherwise I'd prob get another 10k out of them easy.

I'll post pics up on Thurs after they are on!

Well worth it for a case of beer since you have to take the others off!

Probably.. So does that mean i should try and break the welds.. :slap: lol

Looking good man, can't wait to see them on. Also as far as I can tell the dynabeads are just over priced plastic bb's, I would just go the cheap route first, then if it doesn't work get the dynabeads. Can't wait to see it out on the trail this year. :woot:

Got them mounted just a couple hours ago. Will post up pics in the AM, dark out now.

Only got 4 out of the 5 mounted, the other one was not wanting to set the top bead at all. The sidewalls were to close together so I need to put some blocks in between to try to push them out. Think it was due to the shipping of them, being all wrapped up with the packaging crap, the others just barely went on. Beads worked great on the drive back, speeds up to 75mph.

They are also extremely quite on the road. Will also need to trim sheet metal, can tell when I get offroad they will rub, these are/ look pretty big compared to my Kumho's.

Thought about it, but a couple of my friends had not so great results with trying BB's, so I figured I'd just give these a shot. They are in there now, just got back from getting them mounted and so far they are working. So I'm happy.

Nice, you did the mounting yourself? Would you mind going over your method? I'm especially curious how you got the old tires off.

Really wanted to, but if found someone with a tire machine that did them for basically nothing. Getting the old tires off was the part I didn't really feel like doing.
