Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Head On Collision

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by Stoked » Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:11 am

Yesterday, after picking up the baby from my moms, the TB met head on with a 2010 Altima. Light turned green, I started moving. The Altima was coming in the opposite direction and like an a$$**** tried to make the left turn in front of me. Barely felt the impact, the baby thought it was funny.

Altima damage: Hood, bumper, fender, head light, turn signal.
TB: minor paint damage around fog light.

Lessons learned:
FWD = understeer
TB > Altima

I remember a surge in accidents about this time last year on the OS. I guess reaction time is sluggish in the cold weather. Not ours, all of the other drivers.

Glad you're ok. And the baby.

Geez, yes. Good thing no injuries. Can't blame snow. Was the other driver young, or otherwise impaired or distracted?

I live in miami so we really can't blame it on the cold. The temp last night was 55 which is freezing for me but is nothing for you guys up north. As for the other driver, a hispanic lady that couldnt speak english. First thing i asked her, "please tell me you have insurance!", lmao.

No obla espanol. Jersey it has been anywhere from 18-22. Usually the high is around 35 in prime day. I work nights and tonight I was driving home and we had just got a dusting of snow and there were accidents all over the place. I dont like the people that think they can drive the same speed in and outta lanes no matter what the weather is like. Careless! :hissyfit:

One thing I've learned living up here in the snow belt, when the light turns green look both ways as if you were about the cross a road on foot. If someone is moving at a good rate of speed in crappy weather, they will almost always blow through red lights even a few seconds after yours turns green. Even during the summer, I still look because there is always some careless person out there.

Glad you guys are safe tho!

Good to hear that you and baby are OK. Some people think they are professional race car drivers when trying to make a turn like that on a light.

I was coming toward and intersection where I was making a right turn at the light. Guy travelling the opposite direction from me was turning left onto where I was going. He sped through the light and made his turn. I saw this and I kept going at my normal pace. Had he not sped up even more coming out of the turn, I would have clipped his passenger side and undoubtedly damaged my front end. I was hoping for this, actually, since I had already ordered Mike's bumper and would have taken his insurance's check to recoup the costs and then some. He would have been at fault and his car would have been destroyed. We met at another light just up the street. I was in left lane to turn and he was in right lane. I rolled down my window and gave him a piece of my mind. I think he shit his pants.... stupid teenager with his riced out Acura.... :slap:
