Now now...we know im the mall guide, that ventures out into the woods when possible...

In the winter you can get some serious snow hills to climb ya know!(in all seriousness,i do not advocate nor support urban offroading, this is just me taking the best parking spot)

Roof, bumper lights...they can be had and done for under $100,add both look and use.

and if you really want to...
4x4 and performance company stickers, they give you an instant front and rear locker,as well as an additional 137 hp and 82 ft. lbs of torque

:Iagree: A few decals and you'll be tearing it up in no time :flex dirty: :woot:

You're gonna mess this kid up.

Look, mods no matter how cheap/ expensive should center around your plan for the vehicle. People just going to and from their favorite camp site or fishing hole need considerably less than the pros on their expeditions or rock crawling etc...
It all depends on what you need followed by what you want.

Oh, a cargo organizer is a nice little project to help you store and organize gear.

I think the racing stripe just tops it all off.

I think Autozone has some carbon fiber tape if that's what floats your boat :viking:

get tow hooks if yours doesn't come with them.
Keep a check in the classifieds, you can also post as WTB(want to buy).
There are some lifts and wheel spacers over there now.
You have to have spacers to go over about a 30.5 inch tire.
They will also set the tires out and give you an offroad look if you have an aggressive tire.

For Cheap:
A couple straps and a come along; then you can at least play a little in the woods and get yourself free if you get stuck. Bumper trimming helps w/ clearance...

Then you get into things like suspension and body lifts, new bumpers, more recovery gear, rock sliders, etc... As others have mentioned.

you can also remove your bumper cover when you go to play. It only takes like 15-20 minutes the first time and makes a big difference in clearance. I expect you can take it off in 10 minutes after you do it once.
Shoot, the 4 plugs in the bottom of my bumper weren't even attached so mine took less time :-)
There is a write up either here or on the trailvoy site showing how to remove the bumper cover.

You'll need to do it to put on your tow hooks anyway.

As mentioned keep in mind what your goal is, you'll eventually need tires.
If you need more ground clearance you might want the 245/75/16.
If you need a wider footprint for like the beach you might do what I did and go with a 255/70/16.
If you want to go bigger than that go ahead and get the wheel spacers or rims with more backspace so that you are prepared. Tires are likely to run you over $500 easy

Man what would it have been like for me to have had a 4wd TB when I turned 16. The hunting and fishing I could have done then! I started out with an $800 nissan pickup 2wd that lasted me until my last year in college when some guy on his way to get his insurance renewed T-boned me.

Always plan ahead for maint, at 37 oil changes are expensive so I know at 16 they are but make sure to keep your maintenance up.

BTW, I have tow hooks from Fishsticks so I am in the have parts from another member club!
