MDB Steel Bumpers...

We felt these needed their own thread. These are still sort of a work in progress. Kyle came to me for some metal to do something for a bumper, and we came up with something. Ended up looking pretty good, but having to use some filler with the body lift. The original conversations, drawings, and prototyping are here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=963&start=40





The same bumper test-fit on my non-lifted TB. Still needs about 1" of vertical addition.




The level shown is 1" tall.



I didn't want to make it another inch taller and still be flat in the front, so here is what I'll be prototyping in the next week or 2:

I have at least 2, last I knew... I'm going to make 2 this first run, because as always, there will probably be tweaks...

Got the non-body-lift bumper flat pattern cut out last night... Cutting out the 3" body lifted flat pattern tonight...

3" body lifted bumper looks like below, and is going on Kyle's TB... I think it's going to look shit-hot!

(and yes, I had a horrible headache after designing it, and getting the 45 degree front to meet the 20 degree sides to meet the 20 degree vertical outsides...)

I guess you can still mount lights that have a swivel-mount.

I don't know... Of more concern was having it not stick out but about 1" from the front of the frame, and not being 12" tall and flat in the front... This bumper is 12" tall, but shouldn't look like it, with the angled section...

Me Likey. Lights are easy. Just weld on some tabs wherever you want them. Or cut them in and recess some wherever later.

I like the tight to frame. I hit my current one coming on and off of stuff this weekend, so I need all the clearance possible. Anything in front of the frame is just in the way. It should be about like my current on which allows for maximum angle from and of frame to bottom of radiator.

Well done sir. Cant wait to get it on there. Since the shackle mounts proved they worked I definitely need them again. I will be around to help next week. Thanks.

Yeah, I'll let you know when they get bent... I'll work on the shackle mounts for both, as well as at least one 2" reciever... Do you want the winch reciever in the front, or no?

Unless you waned to have to do like Bill and put the hitch pin in with long tongs, something like 3", I think...

Lets skip the reciever for now. If I do get a winch, I would perfer to have the bumper notched and set it in the bumper over the frame rails I think. If I do decide I would really use one, we can add it later.

Pretty sure a winch won't fit behind the bumper, on these, even with a cutout... That's why some of the other ones stick out 8" in front of the frame, and mine/yours sticks out 1"...
