Another hitch mounted spare tire carrier...

Well... have been working on this off and on for about 1 month... It's still not complete. I plan on cutting down the arm to bring the wheel closer. I figure at the angle, I can shorten the arm by a good 6" or more. I will hopefully be doing that soon. Then I need to get the hi-lift mount on there. Then it needs to be painted or coated.







It's not the prettiest carrier out there, but it most definitely works!

I wish I had done the welding. Welding was done by someone else. I would like to get a welder and practice, but I would want a decent 220v set up and I currently don't have a 220v receptacle at home...

And I wish I had a welder as well. One of my friends does but its tough sometimes coordinating work time, and my dad aslo has one but not fuctional at the moment.

I always plugged the welder into the dryer plug at the house I rented in college... In my house, I spent the $40 and put in a 220V out let in the garage...

All appliances are 120v. I plan on running a subpanel in the garage. I have 5 slots open at my main panel that is on the other side of the house. Think a 10 slot panel would be sufficient to do exterior lighting in backyard and 240v in the garage. In time...

They may all be 120V, but I've never seen a house around here that wasn't wired for a 220V dryer outlet... Have you looked behind there to see if there is a plug that's not being used?

I believe even gas dryers are wired 220V these days for the motors. I could be wrong.

Maybe his washer/dryer aren't in his garage. Mine aren't.

My laundry room is near the garage... but there is not a 240v feed back there. There was no washer/dryer in the house when we bought it, I know there is no 240v outlet back there.... LOL

My house only has 220V for the ACs, and for the stairway lights. Yes, stairway lights (I just learned about that a few hours ago). Everything else is 120.

Well now, back on topic...

I got the license plate mount in place yesterday. Did just like JD and Fish... 2 aluminum flat bars bolted to the stock plate holes. I opted not to use the push in tabs, rather, I ran bolts through into the hatch. I have not picked up a light or bumpers yet, should be getting those tonight or tomorrow, so its still not 100% legal, but its visible!

I'm hoping to get the tire mounting plate pushed back SOON... I think I can get it back a good 6-7" and still have clearance. I will also be pushing the plate down a little... as you can see from the pic, the tire does block a little of my view... but its not that bad.

Grand opening of a new store by me. Got it in the circular. I think they may still have ads floating in the store. I'll check it out and grab a few if they do for you guys. Doesn't say anything about only being valid at certain stores either.
