Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Had to change a blow-out on the trail today. Not a lot of fun! The story is here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5996

Finally got all the bushings changed to poly, put in new moog 81114 springs, tried to change tie rods (got the wrong ones) and got to try out my quicktrick alignment tool on the envoy. Turned out good. No more clunking.

Regarding the post at the top of this page, I finally managed to find a replacement rim for the one that got bent that day, in fact I found a pair of rims, complete with decent tires, after a frustrating week of searching. I could find Envoy wheels everywhere, at pretty cheap prices, but no wreckers within a 100km of me had my style TB wheels. I had almost resigned myself to buying a full set of the Envoy wheels, and while checking around for the best deal on those, I came across this pair of the right wheels, with Motomaster Total Terrain tires at 75% tread left, for the grand sum of $240. Score!

Why not put them on top of the bumper where they have a chance at survival?

I also agree. One wrong approach or medium rut will do them in.

yeah i know! plan was for top mounts, but the lights are too wide leaving me little options with the stock bumper. it was either in front or under so i was just testing. think i'm gonna make a bracket or just delete until i get a bumper/armor.

I put the new-to-me used wheels and tires on the rear axle, put the left rear alloy wheel under the truck as a spare, and recycled the rusty old steelie spare and tire. Since the wheels I bought had been on a roadworthy vehicle they were already balanced, and a road test went very well, with no vibrations. I can once again hit the trails, knowing I have a good spare if needed.

Been looking for a set of cheap doors...even wrecked or rusty for a couple years, but they never seem to appear.
