Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Remove front diff just by removing body bolts?

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

Doing a little reading before I do my swap. I found a video on YouTube, of a guy that said he removed all his body bolts, motor mounts, and jacked up the motor/body and the front diff came out....?

Looking under the truck today, it looks like it would have to go way up to get past the crossmember.

Anyone who has swapped them out, do ya think this is possible?

I don't know if it would be possible, but it seems risky to me. I'm picturing a body suspended on boards and an engine swinging from a tree. lol On this topic, has anyone pulled the front diff off a V8 model yet?

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking too. Even with the body lift , I'd guess it would have to go up a solid 6"/+ to clear the crossmember.

Keep in mind, that the engine does not mount to the body. Your guy must have been trying to pull the diff out the back of the engine, between the body and the frame. That's the only way it makes sense. Either way, it sounds like a ton of work. Go out the front. Its really not that bad. Better than trying to get a new exhaust manifold in.
