Swapped out the strut tower top washer last night. We had cut down the big variant when we did the springs a few weeks ago and it was making tons of noise from rubbing, as we didn't catch the size difference before we put the struts back together. The mount isn't in great shape, but hasn't come apart yet. Thankfully, we could change the washer through the engine bay.

Swapped out my lower control arms yesterday, took about 4 hours altogether. Not sure why I'm hurting so much today. I took my time, and there wasn't anything all that involved is the swap. Ah well. One thing I didn't realize is that the placement of this piece is a major part of the alignment, so I'll make a stop at my tire shop in the morning before work.

Something I can't figure out though... last Fall when they replaced the tires, they showed me they couldn't do an alignment because they could move the tire around and I saw the slack in the ball joint -- yet I could not reproduce that yesterday, nor could I feel any slack in the ball when moving it by hand. And the bushings on both sides still felt pretty snug so I'm sure I could have gone quite awhile longer before they actually needed swapped. Oh well, it's done, and I shouldn't have to worry about them for another 100k. Just have to keep an eye on the upper balls, I'm sure they'll need replaced in the next few years as well.

I was planning on getting some spacers from Mike to level out my front end. Wish I had planned this better, I could have installed those at the same time and only needed to do the alignment once. I have too many projects going on right now to keep everything straight.

Ha, I know the feeling. Maybe try a lifetime alignment?

Man, Matt, that's some bum luck. Did the bearings not make any noise before failing? What was the catastrophic failure? Was there no warning?

Lifetime alignment??? I've never heard of anybody around here offering that. I may have to make some inquiries...

Wheel spacers will be here today, so I plan to finish compounding/buffing the passenger side and install the spacers!

Ugh... turning my wheel to pull into a parking space this morning, I hear this 'clunk' under the driver's front wheel. I looked underneath but didn't see anything wrong, however since I just did the lower control arms any unusual sounds make me nervous. Think I'll pull the tire tonight and take a closer look for anything not sitting right.

Make sure the control arm didn't slide. The three bolts that hold that together at the frame are supposed to be 170 ft-lbs or something inordinate, IIRC.
