BFG A/T KO2

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

So anybody running the KO2's? i am on the second set of KO's on my 96' pick-up and they have performed flawless. looking to get a set for the TB but not sure which series to run. i have a company truck and have had just about every brand of AT's on that but none perform aswell as BFG. i hate buying tires before fall but the KO's are going to eventually be hard to find. so has anybody run both?

I haven't run the KO2 yet, but the KO2 is supposed to last like 50% longer on gravel and 15% longer on pavement, due to a better, more chip-resistant compound. Has 20% stronger sidewall than the KO. Has full depth 3D sipes for snow traction over the long term, where most of the KO's siping is gone by 2/3 tread. Side lugs and rock ejectors on the KO2. Has side-biters in the tread and mud-remover little strips, neither of which were on the KO.

The KO2 doesn't compete with the KO2, it's an updated/upgraded model. If it comes in your size, I see no reason not to get it. I may even dump my 1/2 used Duratracs on my 2500HD later this summer for a new set of KO2's.

ETA: Oh, and the KO2 is like $50/tire cheaper than the KO...

My 265/65/18 KO2s have 15,500 mostly pavement miles on them. Depth gauge now reads 12/32" legit on all 4 tires. 15/32" is new!!

think i will just wait till end of the summer and see what deals i can find. just skeptical when a company changes a proven winner and market it as better for the consumer. usually it has little to do with making a better product but rather better profit margins. thanks for the input.

I have seen them on a truck in the parking garage and they do look good. Nice reviews as well.

I see it different and think it was about time BFG updated and upgraded the AT offering. I have never been a big fan of the at from them and with the trend to the more hybrid mt/at they needed to step up their game.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

I priced these at my local tire shop yesterday, in 245/70/17, which should fit without spacers or new wheels, but only increases my ground clearance by 1/2". Balanced, mounted, and all taxes in, they'd run me $1108 CDN. That's about $900 US equivalent. This shop does free repairs and rotations on tires they sell, as well.

They had a display with the KO and KO2 side by side, and the differnces in tread design seem subtle, the shoulder looks much better, and the rubber seemed to feel a little different. I like that the siping is now full depth. Now I just have to quit eating for a few months, so I can afford them.

I just ordered a set of 275/70r17 KO2's yesterday, they should be coming next week some time. I'll make a thread with pics and initial thoughts on the tire, as well as update once I get some mileage on them.

That writeup will be greatly appreciated, Khoranic. Are you mounting these on stock wheels with no spacers? The Lift/Tire Size Chart above indicates that you will need both spacers and a 2" or more lift to get those tires to fit. Your intro post mentions that you plan a lift, but says nothing about spacers or wheels with less backspace.

Yes, i have the 3" MarkMC suspension lift as well as the 1.5" adapters going on at the same time. Wheels will be aftermarket 17x8.5" +25mm offset, ran into a snag with my order but it should still be situated for next weeks arrival and install, ill let you know if for some reason the KO2's dont end up happening. As of now they should still be on track.

Great, I was just checking to see if you had forgotten any details like that, and you're way ahead of me! :-)

I read your thread in the lounge about the order problem, I hope you get that worked out.

eyed them the other day while getting a tpms sensor replaced

the tread is now slightly angled & a bit more open & they have a better looking sidewall with raised ridges to combat rocks

good deal i'm interested in hearing how you like them. i went to the tire shop this week and they want $1056 for a set of 275/65/18's. they were pushing hard for a set of cooper At3 @$788 and $70 rebate. think i will pick up some overtime and go with the ko2's.

Okay so I got my wheel/tire combo situated. Ended up getting them at a town fair tire $1200 out the door. 17" wheels with the 275/70r17 KO2's. Should be picking them up Monday and should have them on this week sometime.

I went with the KO2's and glad i did. The first 100 miles or so they were throwing rocks bad, but i have about 1500 miles on now and the rock throwing has melowed or maybe i have cleaned my road. Just kidding they have lightened up on the rock deal. so far they've seen rocks, sand and rain and i can't complain. The area they really shine is road noise. The KO's on my truck were loud. The KO2's on the trailblazer are quit as the michelin's i took off. bring on the mud and snow and I'll update.

I plan on getting the same. Besides front bumper delete, no issues rubbing rear or back of front well?

i removed the front cover because driverside was busted so i had trimmed the plastic up on the front before i got tires. i did some trimming and reforming to the back of the front well, they were rubbing on the turns. from what i could tell on the tire chart 275/70R17 could go either way depending on your setup.

Yeah, half a dozen of one or the other. I just need it road ready, so 265 seems like the safe play since I don't have a lot of monkeying around time but have totally bald tires.

I've got 265/70-17 BFG AT KO on stock wheels and 1.5" spacers, with no problem with them rubbing top or rear of wheel well. Stock front bumper is replaced with one of mine, so I have no idea how it would get along with the forward part of the stock plastic inner fender.

Hrm. You would think then that the extra 1/2" or so wouldn't be that big of a leap on 275.
