bartonmd wrote:Holy cow, you spent a TON of time copying my stuff! Just from pictures, too, which is really good! I'm not mad about it, at all! That is a shitload of time! Even with the ability to look at lots of finished examples and pictures of the pieces to copy, you still had to come up with the dimensions and matching angles! Interestingly, with the exception of the ovals at the bottom, that's exactly how I have the front section designed, as well!
Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost you to get that stuff cut out and bent? I know when we talked about it, exactly what you have there was going to be a little over $1k USD, even with the really expensive shipping. However, because the Canadian dollar has gone down so much compared to the US dollar (it was 1:1 like a year and a half ago, but is ~80% now, plus conversion fees), by the time you changed to US dollars and paid the import tariff, it was going to be like $1500 Canadian.

The oval hole are for the winch mounting and access to the hardwares.
It wasn't too long. I spent about a week to design it on sketchup and made jig template with foam core.
I sent it to
http://promett.com/ for the laser cut and the bending.
Actually it was the longer step, about 2 months.
It cost me 850 can$ to get it. Barely half of the price. and the second could cost 20%-30% less expensive. And if I had to do 2 kits at the same time It could be 40% less expensive. But don't worry Mike. I don't want to stealth your business!!!!
This spring I was studen for my master degree so I had a lot of time to put on it. Now I'm really busy and it's hard to find the time to peint my bumper (the final step before using it)
Thank Mike to sharing your work. It was really useful.
