Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Eredin - if you have access to HPTuners, I can send you the file. This includes speedo adjustment for 30.6" tires (the largest available in the PCM). Judging by your pics, it doesn't look like you're running too much larger than that, so it should be close enough to make the ABS happy and even get your speedo within the ballpark.

Dropped the big blue bus off at Butch's shop this morning for a short but expensive visit. He's doing RF hub, left UBJ, and installing Mark MC's 2.5 lift/level, Z71s in the rear, BDS 55619's, and adding clamps to the inner CV boots, along with about 1/2" of washers to the top of each strut body to compensate for the 1/2" spacers' effect on the travel length. I would have loved to add Bilstien HDs in the front, but since they're not available yet, that'll have to wait for another day, and some more pennies saved. I'll post pics later today in my new "MAll rated" build thread.

Thanks Shdw, no handy access to HPT at the moment. I'm running 265/70/17s, so ballparkish close. That being said, my stepper motor has been out in the speedo for a while now. In place of it, I've been using my ScanGauge to read the PCM and pull the speed, then using the built in adjustment to compensate for gears/tires to make it accurate. I'll follow up with you if that changes and I do appreciate it.

Finally built a cheap, lightweight shelf. Nothing fancy, but it serves it's purpose. I'm liking it so far.

I went out and got her muddy with a few local jeep clubs, tried to go up a pretty rutted hill and couldn't make it, instead got some fender damage. Was able to bang it out after.

Its the 400C. My bumper, which used to take my MV-50 over 5 minutes to pump up, this thing does in like 2 minutes.

The MXT tires performed excellent, they cleaned out great, dug in great. I didn't really have any issue on 90% of the trails, never got stuck. Only areas I couldn't do were the really deeply rutted spots but not because of the tread but tires size. Over all I am very happy with them.

Front diff is in! That is quite possibly, one of the dumbest things I've ever had to change in a vehicle. Everything came loose with ease until we got to the last bits. Had to replace passenger UBJ, it was long gone. Grabbed a cheapo at the local parts store to get by until I can order one that isn't way overpriced.

I got lucky on the disconnect, as it was seized, but didn't shatter on us, got it out in about an hour. Stub shaft came out, no issues there. However... the differential wasn't going anywhere. We spent longer dealing with the removal of it than the entire tear down and reassembly of the project. Last night we finally threw in the towel and hit it with the air chisel to break the oil pan sleeve off of the diff. Once out, we were able to chisel the remainder of the pieces out, including the threaded adjuster. We didn't have enough Kroil in the world to penetrate the built up corrosion on the mating surface.

Thankfully, after a heavy coat of antiseize on everything, the assembly went smoothly.

Thanks goes to Fishsticks' old top side removal write up. I have an efan, so I was able to axe a large portion of what he recommends, only removing engine hoist plate, alternator, idler bracket and compressor, along with unbolting the PCM to make a hole to flex some stuff around. All bearings looked great on the disco and diff, so we opted not to rebuild them, but did replace seals and heavily regrease everything.

Bumper and skids will go on later this week, along with a Spohn pan hard bar and a service of the TCase. Thankfully, that'll be it for a bit, only other major item on the agenda before TECORE is a spare tire carrier.

Finally temp fixed the whine from The engine bay by putting on a smaller belt to bypass ac compressor for now til I get a new one. Then shattered my sunroof while trying to mount my lightbar to roof rack was a good day.

Ouch. Welding get it?

Got my pan hard bar and bumpers/skids on last night!

Found I now have a small tear in my passenger CV boot, but it's on the flat surface near the band, so hoping the Permatex fix holds. Also my trans output shaft seal is now leaking. I can't win for losing.

No I climbed up top to better line everything up and lost balance and a foot went through was bad thinking on my part and just sucks even though the green guard is pretty fancy looking. Bout 300 for new glass I've seen and I'm sure changing it out isn't the most fun. O well live and learn, the hard way mostly for me it seems:)

I once nearly put my foot through my windshield. As you said, live and learn.

Well broke the right front control arm in the same spot as I did the left last night sadly I had bought another to replace it cause of bushings just hadn't had time to change it. But on the bright side it only took me 10 min start to finish in an arbys parking lot

Indeed, never heard of such a thing breaking.
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.
