Hey everyones name is jared I'm 26 from Newport News va. I drive a 04 trailblazer ext. I have the 3 inch suspension lift and just got marks adapters. My dads 96 Chevy 1500 got totaled but had brand new tires on it. The wheels are 16 though anyway I bought the adapters. The rears fit just fine the fronts are hitting the calipers. From what I've read I can switch the calipers to the non ext calipers and the wheels will fit. I have to get these tires on mine r shot to the cords. I'm wondering can I grind the calipers that r on there now down to where the wheels will fit just until I get my new calipers. I really need to get these on there or I will have no vehicle. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Calipers are the same between the SWB & EXT. What is different is the size of the rotor. SWB rotor is 12.4" and EXT/SS/5.3L SWB is 13". So you don't need new caplipers. Rev. viewtopic.php?t=4622

Thanks for you're help. That's the thread I kept reading last night and was just confused probably cause I was so mad from working on truck. So if I put a regular trailblazers rotor and caliper mounting bracket on my truck the 16 wheels will fit

The difference is not only the size of the rotors but the brackets that hold the caliper as well.

You could do the smaller rotors and brackets and make it work with less braking ability.

When I did the swap from small diameter rotors to the larger I reused the caliper in the EXT brackets, so I would assume so....but I do not know of anyone going the reverse as you plan to know for sure.

That's what I. Curious about cause the smaller rotor makes sense but in order to move the caliper in I would need the other bracket and I'm curious if it bolts right up seems like it would be different. Is grinding the calipers safe or no

Depends on amount to grind. I have done with success on vehicles, but some swear you will kill a busload of nuns if you do such actions.

The caliper bracket mount on the spindle is the same. You only have to get the caliper mount bracket and the smaller rotor and bolt it on. If I remember correctly the SWB trucks have aluminum calipers and the EXT/V8 etc have iron. So while it's a different material it's dimensionaly the same.

Ok so I'll buy the caliper mount bracket and rotor for a normal tb and that should allow them to fit. The grinding I feel like would work and still be ok but when I look around online people r saying only idiots would do it and you will kill people and all that so it does scare me lol

Just took my calipers(measuring calipers not brake) and measured the brake caliper compared to one I haven't ground at all I've only removed .020 there's no way that will cause failure
