TECOREIII
(Trailblazer East Coast Off Road Event)
Friday June 4 - Sunday June 6
George Washington National Forest
Near Harrisonburg, VA

Exact details are still being worked out, but I will keep this first post updated with the information and a list of attendees.

Whos invited?
Anyone with a lifted Trailblazer, Envoy, or other GMT360/etc. Some of these trails may be impassable by a stock TB.

Whats the plan?
To explore and traverse the wilderness of the North River Ranger District. The event will be a two night camping trip. Please note that the campsites will be primitive (no running water, no bathrooms, no nearby assistance). We will stay one of the nights on Meadow Knob or on Flagpole Knob. The second night is still undecided as of this moment.

What will you need?
  • a Truck (GMT360/etc)
  • CB
  • lift (suggested but not required)
  • all-terrain or mud-terrain tires
  • camping gear
  • enough food for the entire event

What are the rules?
The rules for TECORE I can be read here, the rules for TECORE III will be the same: http://tecore.offroadtb.com/tecore-trail-guidelines.pdf

So please let me know your plans, if you're interested in coming, please say so... and do it early, as I can only allow a maximum of 8 or so vehicles to come.

Meeting location:

Exact time to be determined...
Sheetz on Rt 33:
798 East Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA‎

Let's put it this way... if we don't reach our maximum, we can allow a couple other vehicles... but I feel a need to give spots to GMT360s first.
Bring the wife's TB! I'm sure we can pull it through everything we'll encounter... :coffee2:

That's fine... Totally understand that...

Yeah, a couple problems with that... She hates to drive my LeSabre, and she can't drive the truck. If she comes with me, that's not a problem, though…

Mostly, I want to keep water out of the interior, and out of the bearings… The truck, I can get home and just pull it apart and re-pack the bearings with new grease… Not so easy on the unit-bearings of the TB… I've also got the Stabilitrac/BCM down in front of the fuel tank, which I'm not looking forward to getting water into… I will NEVER hear the end of it if she junks a bearing when she's halfway across the country without me, or if water seaps into the interior and we get a mildew issue (or really any smell issue, as she's VERY smell sensitive)… I also don't want to cause the group to not do the deep water crossings or anything, because of me, or to wait until I find another route without the deep water… Or really if there is any vehicle problem, at all, associated with the trip, I'll never hear the end of it…

That's too bad Mike... still, think about it!

Janesy, I had originally planned for Memorial day weekend, then realized that would be a bad idea! I imagine the camping scene in those mountains gets a bit crowded that weekend.

When you figure out what the routes will be, let us know how many and deep the water crossings will be...

Well, in Sept... we had to go to a spot just for water. The rest of the weekend just pretty dry. Its very difficult to estimate how much water we'll run into, but a snorkel should not be needed. Differential Vent relocation might be required, however. And it should be done by everyone as stock, its kind of low in the first place....

I really want to go... although two things hold me up still.

1. Lift
2. I think I have to do a ton of cross country driving for the Army in June

Hopefully i can make it. We shall see

WOO, the wife said she is ok with it! She has a friend in VA that she wants to go see.

Now for the money. I should easily have it by June. Looks like I'm in, but leave me on the possible list for now!

I am free so it's a go. Hopefully with my tax return I will have plenty of money and if I am smart i will keep enough vacation time. I really got to budget everything with this wedding and honeymoon in July.

Count me in, I will do my best to come meet you guys.

Awesome to hear guys!

Nick, I'm trying to convince my wife to come along too... we'll see, her work schedule is sometimes unpredictable.

Kyle, I stuck you on the possible list since you didn't sound absolutely certain.

Are you planning to wheel on Friday or just meet and camp? It looks to be about 10 hours each way, so trying to confirm time off.

Friday would be spent wheeling toward the camp site. Then setting up camp and trying to avoid getting into a fight with drunken hillbillies... :friday:
