When I got to use my front tow rings for the first time, I realized that larger rings would put less crimp in the tow strap, but otherwise the size and position don't seem to be too critical. If they are 2-3 feet apart and wide enough to get a 2" strap on them easily, I would think you are good to go. The only consideration I made for mine was keeping them right beside the frame for overall strength.

Replaced original back bolt that goes through impact bar and frame with ~1 1/2" longer bolt to accommodate tow hook. Then, I widened an existing hole on impact bar all the way trough the frame to drop in second bolt. Not shown here, but took cutting wheel and took roughly half inch square out of impact bar to fit a 19MM wrench inside to hold second bolt while I tighten nut on bottom.

The only thing I'd try to do is get more washers on that frontal bolt. Tight bolts don't do much if they aren't squeezing down on something, but I'll agree with Jason, it's probably fine.
The only problem with hooks that face down like that is that they like to lose grasp of the strap as soon as it's slack. They often come with little retainer clips to prevent that from happening, did yours not?

Yep, that's exactly what I did. I added another washer to the front one on each side so it was snug before I even started torqueing it down. I went back and forth whether to mount on top or on the bottom. But, I guess if I'm not happy it won't take much to switch them around.
Oh and these did not come with the retainer clips. This was really just a temporary mod so I had something for the next few trails runs we're doing this month. But, regardless, I still wanted to do it right. I'm hoping to have a new bumper put together after that.
