JD as far always needing internet access for topo software. Have you found Terrain Navigator Pro? I've used this at work, older version but works great. The only down side is it's per state bases and pricy. $399 first state DVD and $199 each additional state DVD. This may be over kill but there is free demo download.

I had been looking at that. It's just the updated version of what I have. Not sure if there's any benefit in upgrading from 7.0 to 10.0

JD nice installation of the surface. Have you disabled the passenger airbag? I have thought about that with my installation, but never found out if there is a easy way to do.

I never did disable it, but it worried me with my old Ram mount. The surface is in an area that wouldn't be touched by an airbag, so its a moot point now for me.

I like the clean way it mounts JD, I also like that it is a lot cheaper then Ram mount. I know you had to get the screen stabilizer for the laptop, does the tablet vibrate much?

I quit using my Motion Computing pc tablet as well. Galaxy tab 10" with Backcountry Navigator PRO app (cheap) and free topo and satellite picture downloads for off the grid use.

Here's a link to what I bought, they call them more of a work light Tuff LED They a flood beam pattern with good ~ 50ft distance. Mainly wanted them to light up the trail near me. I need to get better pictures down some covered areas as the current pictures I got don't really show it good enough. The two pic below are just the LED'S.

I always have a rough time determining how bright something really is in pics. It appears to be a nice flood though and it's rated at almost 3 times the lumens of my work flashlight and that thing is blinding, albeit in a more focused beam though.

It'll be interesting to see em in person and to see how they hold up.

I do agree with you about the pictures they suck, maybe a video would help. They were with my phone. I will try a real camera.

It is greater than what is shown, nothing to hit beyond the tree open space. We did not stay after dark at the park or I would have gotten a few pic on the trails. From what I can see with my own eye's they should work real good on a trail to get sides but that is speculation.

James any more information on how you have attached the half rack to the roof? I can see from the pictures there are two latches in front oft the half rack between the led light bars. What is with the antenna on the roof are there some restrictions with intensity difference?

The half rack was designed to work with the same mounting points I had for my cut down baja rack. I was using the front-most factory roof rack mounting points. I also drilled and set my own 1/4" blind rivet nuts in the foremost part of the roof, between the windshield and the moon roof hatch.

Not sure what antenna you mean, the little XM on the rack, or the factory antennaes?

The roof lights I have are undoubtedly illegal for use on roads, there are restrictions on how high you can mount road-legal lights, and they technically are supposed to be DOT approved. Off road, its pretty much unregulated, despite many trails technically being considered "roads".

I'm not meaning to play dumb, but I have no idea what antenna you're referring to. Is it one of the circles in the front windshield? The one in the top corner is a suction mount for my Scangauge, and the one near the rear-view mirror is the rain-sense sensor for the wipers. If those aren't the antenna you're referring to, is there any chance that you can circle it or point to it in the picture that you see?
