James, is it just me, or is your panhard bar tweaked? Looks a little curved in that shot.

Yeah, I have the No-slip, the same as yours but with a synchromesh built in.

It makes a racket in parking lot type turns and maneuvers, but on the road its quiet. I am curious how it sounds without the synchro ring.

Yeah, its tweaked a bit from the old purple cranium protector. Its not as bad as my rear lower control arms. Both of those have been curved at least an inch out of straight for years. I need to make some, but I'm not sure of the length to do. If I want to fit 35s, I might want to scoot the axle back a half inch or so.

After doing it Regulators way the first time and taking about an hour and 15 minutes I did it the same way with the rack and subframe up and not removed but disassembling the front of the motor- Alternator, Fan and shroud, ac compressor and idler pulley it was "cake". the whole job with removal of suspension, intermediate shaft, disco, diff and front of motor took me an hour and to pull the diff actually out the front of the motor was 5 minutes or less.

For those of you who dont have a vacuum pump or charge gauges for the ac you're able to move the compressor up and have the pulley rest on the battery and stay there.

It is almost like I know what I am doing!

I finally got my oil pan swapped. What a huge pain in the ass it was! At this point I think it would have been easier to pull the motor and change it than drop all the sh** under the truck. I still had to lift the motor a foot off the mounts to have the needed clearance. Thankfully, I was able to get the transmission on the first try this time without any further damage. I have six to eight hours of reassembly left and then I can add fluids and fire it for the first time in months. I am working to have it ready for my 20 year reunion on Saturday. While everyone is dieting and primping to show off, all I am worried about is my truck. I am fat, poor, and mentally screwed up, but I have a cool truck!

I finally started my rear end swap this afternoon.
I got the old one out before running out of time.
Hopefully I can get the other one in tomorrow evening if things work out.

I like it when my bearing surfaces are smooth, round, and shiny don't you? My U-joint didn't apparently. I put it in just over a year ago.

I also noticed my heat shield was laying on top of the muffler. A quick (pre-rusted) washer fixed that.

I just got a set of used 255/75/17 BFG KM's from I salesman not really paying too good of attention. As I agreed to his $240 for his 4 tires mounted and balanced and $80 for my tires he said "no $80 flat and we are done". SOLD. So what should've cost me $120 cost me $80. :finger:

I started it for the first time in three months! Everything looks good, a couple of very minor leaks on the new transmission lines, that will get fixed in 500ish miles after the break in period on the transmission and I drop the pan and replace filter and fluid. A couple of hours left buttoning everything up and I will pull it out of the driveway!

not for nothing, but as long as you have the metal piece that is the rear bumper you're good. The urethane piece is just a bumper cover... hence the part name when you get a replacement. The cover serves no actual purpose other than being cosmetic. With proper reference material you can win it in court. Obviously you're out your time to fight it. But after you win a time or two you'll stop getting harassed. There's no plastic or styrofoam impact structure, so you're only left with the metal piece that is the "legal" bumper.

Depending on the attitude you have and the attitude of the officer, you might be able to explain it and go about your day without having to go to court. Just realize the officer may be ignorant of the technicality and may issue you a summons anyway and you'll then have to fight it in court.

Yes I know all that but Little LE Man with his chest stuck out wanted to correct me when I tried to explain. The cover is cosmetic flaring and has no DOT safety reg what so ever. What I lost when I removed the cover was the RHS and LHS red reflectors, which I replace to the metal bumper with red reflector tape.

I don’t have to provide any reference material to Little LE Man, he has to show me what motor vehicle statutes that I’m not complying with. He cannot write me a ticket on his option or what he feels something should be.
You see it was 4:30am I had just got off work after 13 hours of BS and I was tired and hungry. IMO It all came down to Little LE Man just wanted to see what else he could come up with and used the “no rear bumper” as an excuse to pull me over. When he had no DUI and didn’t see any reason to search my vehicle he left.

And the thing is I want to put the bumper back on, I just have not had the time working away from home and putting in 70 to 75 hours a week.

I figured since you posted about it you got the ticket LOL

You'll notice I was referring to reference material in the circumstance of you going to court to fight the ticket.

You'll also notice my reference to him being "ignorant of the technicality". If he believes it's a violation you'll get the summons/ticket/warning at which point you'll prove him wrong in court if necessary.

Just trying to help out! Glad you don't gotta waste time going to court over something silly. That shit sucks.
