What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Managed to do this putting in the new hubs... I've got a knack for breaking crap lately....

So Moots, are you saying the maint time difference between the two methods is ~10 minutes for you?

No I did it the same way both times. It took me a shorter amount of time because I knew exactly which way to twist it, It's not that difficult at all. The hardest part was getting the bottom bolt off the diff that hits the subframe.

but you've done it through the bottom, too. Correct?

No I went to attempt it but it seemed more of a hassle then just going through with taking the front apart. Was thinking about dropping the pan but didnt see that being an easier method.

I changed my tail/brake light bulbs to leds. I bought standard socket bulb, took it apart and converted it to the ck type socket.

Stuck the new 8.6 rear axle in.

Still need to find time to get the front rebuilt and in.

Haha, valid point! I figured a shot of a new axle in there wouldn't be much to look at, since they look the same, minus the purple cranium.

Well... I drove past it, again. and again.
Just like i'll be doing for the forseeable future as work is going to be 'generously' providing over 30 hours of OT per week for the next millenium...

I've contemplated that before. But with the whole maintaining uniforms, storing firearms/vests/etc., having a patrol car it's just not practical.

Glad to see that! I'm curious what your impression of the front diff will be. I'm still unsure of my opinion of the no-slip rear. Maybe its just a matter of it wearing in more. But luckily you're not running power through the front diff all the time.
