Confused (again) about what washer to use

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Ok, so after reading the instructions on marks website, and getting this...

Remove the Upper Strut Mount and separate the
Spring Insulator/Guide from the Upper Spring Mount. (Note: Remove the
Lower Strut Retainer/Washer and replace it with the new Washer from the kit. New
washers may vary in color, Black or Gold, due to supplier stock.

Then I searched here and found this...

THAT's what I was seeing, and why the shock acted in the way I was not expecting. I hadn't considered that the lower washer was left off, and that the lower bushing had crept down the shaft.

I think you'll be OK for now.

For future user's reference - larger washer on bottom, smaller washer on top, right?

For future referance:
Discard the larger factory washer and replace with smaller washer that comes with the kit.
But yes, smaller washer goes on the top side.

Heres a pic of what washers I have. The two on the left are the stock washers. The small silver one is what came in marks kit. Does the small guy go under the mount, and the middle size goes on top?

Discard the large washer on the left. use the center washer on top of the mount. the small washer installs on the strut rod under the mount.

OK. Thanks. That's what I was thinking....its just that that's a huge difference between the stock washer and that tiny new one, made me second guess what I was doing

You can also stack a few washers under those silver ones to keep from topping out so hard. Something else to consider.

I was considering this, however, what I was reading suggested to stack (6 if I remember correct) and then check for binding. Since I broke my cheapo compressors, I'm having a shop do the springs. I really don't want to have to take them off again to adjust for binding. I need the truck this weekend and cant be waiting till Tues to have the springs done again.

I think my suggestion is to stack as many washers as you can and still get the nut on the top of the shock rod, then back it off if you have binding at full droop. But that is a lot of work. 6 washers was all I could fit with the old BDS setup, but its a different bushing, so it doesn't really apply the same.
