Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by Cable810 » Sat Apr 12, 2014 7:01 pm

Went to wheel today to only find out that my 4wheel dive isn't working :wallbash: Thankfully I realized that it wasn't working after 100 yards off pavement.

Yeah, best of all I have NO CLUE how that happened. It was working fine the last time I used it which I think was October. So is it a bad disco? Assuming that it is.

Uh, that's just normal wear, dog. Time to tear into it. At min you will need 2 new bearings and a seal. More likely it will be more than that.

I had to cut a hole threw both layers of my strut tower to allow access to the damaged spark plug thread. Once I had straight on access I was able to tap the threads clean and install the spark plug. Using hole saws, I had made a larger hole in the front piece. The cut out from the front piece was close to the right size to fill the back plate. I made a new plate for the front strut plate. I decided it was enough excitement for one day. Hopefully I don't have anymore of these issues.

I just did mine, two seals, three bearings, and awd sleeve. And new CV shaft. Like 176$ for everything.

Replaced Idler pulley, I think it was original  and got rid of that noise
and made it easier to pinpoint the noise I've been chasing, looks like the power steering pump pulley :wallbash:
now I need to figure out if I have to replace the whole thing :wallbash:
The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

36mm socket works on stock and aftermarket CVs.

Same goes for the 35mm. That way you can re-use the oem nut and save yourself the need to buy a 36mm socket.

Same what? You can't use the 35 mm on aftermarket 36mm nuts...

You are not supposed to reuse those nuts, I sure would not use them on another cv.

Simplest is to get a 36mm socket so you can use it on either stock or aftermarket and do not have to buy a 35mm.
