8.6 because of 18's?????

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

My LT has the 17" sport rims and did not come with a 8.6" diff.

The change to the LT's wasn't until 06.
But I'm pretty sure its only the rare every place but here, factory 18's that got the 8.6

I think you need to just send me your spare because you feel sorry that I have a 8.0 axle.

Had I not put new bearings and backing plates on it, I probably would get rid of it.

Shipping would probably make it not worth it, or are they not common in NY?

You can get them just have not found any with 4:10, most are 3:42 or 3:73. I do got a line on one with 3:73 for under $200 just got to save up.

Mine is a 3.42, picked it up for $75 and put about the same into it.

Probably gonna start looking for a 3.73 front and rear to rebuild and swap in when I go to 32's

I had one shipped to NC from Ohio last fall for $450.
Shipping was only $150 but if you don't get what you asked for it is a pain to handle long distance.

Like I said, my 3.42 was only $75. For what 4.10 axles run around me... I'd just regear what I've already got.

3.73 axles aren't much more than 3.42's so I'll probably just buy a 3.73 axle and front diff and have spare parts

Well it probably doesn't help much since it seems the 06+ LT/LS's are only common around my area...

But, I have finally confirmed 100% that the the 8.6 is in fact in all TB's with the 18" rims
"The 18" rim package (opt PD8) came standard with the 8.625 ring gear" got ahold of a friend who works for GM and had him do some digging for me.
Same goes for all 06+ GMT360's with factory 18" rims
