Do you have pics? When I bought the Cardones from rock auto I got a 3 rib boot and the boot self destructed in very short order... it's mentioned earlier in this thread. I'm under the impression that these neoprene boots are the same ones used on the Detroit axle rebuilds that Hardtrailz is using. He's had good luck so I'm just building on what he reported earlier in this thread. I'm replacing just the boot cause I already have 4 CVs ( including the ones on the truck). seems silly to spend on a whole new axle since they are fine other than the boot. Not to mention the stock ones seem to have better capability at operating at a steep angle, as documented in the thread.
I would imagine you'll be fine with your height, my problems seem to stem from using 89s with the 3" lift.
If this doesn't work I may get a leather cover for the boot to help protect it from puncture and see if that'll square me away. I believe it was trail debris that did in the silicone boot.
